Let's enjoy the Kool Aid responsibly folks
remember the Wake fallout.

What's sad is the "Wake fallout" can refer to many seasons.
Granted it had a much larger impact on this season as opposed to the previous 5-6 years.
If life gives you lemons, go ahead and watch some FSU football.
UVa hurt me more than Wake...

I think you are right...
Maybe we were numb by the time UVa happened. I just remember watching us blow easy opportunities to score…and then not being able to stop them on the final drive. Complete frustration.

i think this year is just a crazy as last year IMO
I don’t see any better scheduling than last from the ACC. So with that said, I think it really will come done to the O line play, and how healthy Ponder and said line will be. and so will go the season. of course expect the unexpected loss. it happens every season.

If we’ve got Ponder back, preseason top 5 could be legit!

God I miss CP7
I took him for granted. We all did.
I hate you Off-season

This needs to be GREEN
You’re in a very large boat my friend…although I told my fellow Noles CP7 would be sorely missed.
by SarasotaSeminole on Jan 12, 2012 10:14 PM EST up reply actions
I told EVERYONE he will be missed
Especially the people who didn’t pay attention in 2009 and just saw the record and not the score. Man put 2009’s offense with 2011’s defense. Damn.
Know what I miss more than Ponder?
His offensive line that was one of the best in the country.

Exactly this-
Look how well EJ played behind that line in the clemson game and the bowl games. He had TIME!
I think this is nothing new but with a good O line, we have a good QB, no matter who it is.

I tried to tell everyone here that Ponder was a big loss, and that's when I was pulling for Miami.
Of course, some felt that the QB position was gonna be an upgrade this year. I guess I had the fortune of looking from the outside in. Thank God, I don’t have that luxury anymore.

i think the running game will prove to be far more important than Ponder, or any other QB we throw out there

Well I have no data to back this up it,s just a hunch. I’m going all Babe Ruth and calling my shot so, Here it goes FSU will win a NC next year.
I'm limiting my Kool-Aid intake
Thinking that we’re right around #15 going into next year. That rank could jump significantly though if we can put together an effective and consistent offense.
good thing is we should (if WVU backs out), have a nice gradual increase in competition which bodes well.

WVU Game
I really think our season hinges on getting out of this game. This game stays and we will lose 3 to 4 games. We get out of this game and we lose 1 or 2 games. We already ahve UF and USF OOC….adding WVU is just a stupis stupid move! We shouldn’t even be playing USF either!
by SarasotaSeminole on Jan 12, 2012 10:16 PM EST up reply actions
i'm not ready to say losing 3 games....since we don't know the schedule its hard to point out a trap game...
but we could drop games to who? UF, VT? I’m not ready to say UM even though its a rival, i think CJF has their number, as well as USF, nothing shows they will be especially difficult. Clemson is going to be in a weird position next season, adjusting to a new D coordinator and its not in death valley so. I would say two loses are expected.

Right on smooth
We have 6 guaranteed wins on the schedule. If we somehow manage 3 or 4 losses out of VT, CU, FU, WVU, USF, and UM, I’d quit watching football and check myself into a nice quiet asylum. The days of losing to multiple inferior teams are either over, or Jimbos tenure needs to be. Its put up or shut up time.
by Widespread Seminole on Jan 12, 2012 11:39 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
What are you win shares on those 6 games?
VT-60
CU-75
FU-62.5
WVU-57.5
USF-72.5
UM-97.5
4.25 wins… so 3 losses is def not out of the question from those 6. Not to mention the rest of our ACC slate

win probability or something?

MIne look a little different
VT – 50
CU – 67.5
UF – 72.5
WVU – 66.7
USF – 85
UM – 87.5

Ive got it at 4.75 so I see your point
But my point was that WVU alone doesn’t swing us to 3 or 4 losses by themselves. Say we drop them and replace them with North Texas (for example) my projected win share only goes from. 75 to .99 thus only changing my projection by.24 win shares. I also don’t think that WVU is a team that can punish us physically anymore than most D1 teams, even the bad ones, so there’s no need IMO to modify the win shares of the subsequent week.
OU this year was different in the fact that they are one of the 8-10 most elite teams in the country, so they were able to effect us the next week disproportionately more than any of the other 110 or so D1 programs.

Clemson adjusting to new DC
Be careful with this assumtion, because it really depends who it is. Surely didn’t take long for them to adjust to a brand new OC did it?

They don’t have the same luxury on defense.
exactly.

I'm actually expecting their defense to be respectable next year
Also expecting their offense to regress significantly.

If we play WVU, we lose 3 or 4?
That’s so over the top Im not sure how to respond. We only lost 4 this year, by a combined 21 points, and I challenge you to name a season where an FSU team was more snakebit with injuries than this year.
WVU is a mediocre team from the Big East. They couldn’t beat us with Pac Man and Steve Slaton, Im not afraid of Geno Smith. Im all for getting out of the game, but 3 or 4 losses?
At what point soes our stockpile of talent and relatively easy path to the BCS come together if not 2012? Every single preseason poll I’ve seen has us in the top 10. Followed by scores of comments about how we are always overrated. In seasons past that may have been true, but truly smart football people are taking notice. A 4 loss season with our talent and schedule would be a trainwreck and failure so massive I couldn’t even articulate it verbally.

Thank you for responding this way so i didnt have to take the time to say the exact time.

Without another slew of injuries
I agree that 4 losses would be unacceptable next year (and if we do have that many injuries again, it might be time to reevaluate our practice methods, S&C, whatever).
I would perhaps begrudgingly accept 9-3 (esp. if an ACC title followed that regular season record), depending on unknown factors (e.g., injuries, schedule, mob-hit-style refereeing, etc.). But 8-4 would be very difficult to swallow.
I think it would be tim eto reeval out scheduling. NOONE PLAYS 3 BCS OCC

That, too.
But with this team, with six pretty sure victories, we should go at least 3-3 in the other games.
But, yeah. The schedule needs to be fixed.
Get WV off the schedule and the expectation should be 10-2. However, we’ll have to play VT twice. I don’t have confidence in beating them two times, so it better be in ACCCG

I think a BCS bowl appearance isn't out of the question.
I don’t have my sights set on the NCG, but unless we lose our division I’m confident we can make a BCS bowl.
Playing WVU does not help our chances of making a BCS bowl, and a loss in that game would ruin whatever NC aspirations we have.
