The Seminoles are still America's team
Can there be one with soul so dead whose heart does not leap at the sigh of Renegade and the flaming spear

Poor taste, great execution.

I think the vitriol against the gators on this site is warranted. Obviously. The venom spewed at #15 is just way off base. If you hate players destroying our team because of superior talent, fine. But how about reminiscing about those moments, eh? Oh, not as fun to talk about him

How can a true Seminole fan have hoped for a New England win? Possibly the two poorest sportsmen in Aaron Hernandez and Brandon Spikes start for the Pats. When did Tebow ever haplessly throw a football into the stands after a deking Greg Reid on his way to ANOTHER first half TD making the score 24-0? How many times did he spear or deliver late hits and eye gouges in blowout games? I’m telling you, this Tebow hate is getting pretty chicken, he is one of the few worthy adversaries to wear blue and orange.

Dustin Hopkins is an extremely outspoken Christian, yet we support his efforts, no? Come on guys, and gals, lets display a little class. For those who are capable of it.

it has nothing to do with him being Christian, per se

he is a hypocrite (a prick on the field, but a babbling Jesus-lover in interviews) and he does it at inappropriate times. look at Victor Cruz as an example of someone who credits God often, but is no obnoxious or ridiculous about it. people use the Muslim excuse (if he were Muslim, would we still act this way?), and there is an easy response: if he was constantly praying on the sideline to whomever, it would still be ridiculous. we get it, you love Jesus, and you think he helps you win football games, but keep the celebrations brief and do it when you actually have something to celebrate.

"I guess they have a reputation of being more of a tricky team and not being tough. You hit ‘em in the mouth, and they don’t like it. Other teams that have beat them just hit them in the mouth, so that’s what we started out with.’’ - Nick Moody

Its just Jimmy Falon doing a parody of Tebow and Bowie

what do FSU/UF/NE/RandomPlayers have to do with this?

so basically what youre saying is if a player in college was dirty/mean/talented we should root against them in the NFL, and if a player in college is moral/nice/talented we should cheer for them in the NFL?

I guess youre speaking in general? As if all of TN is “spewing venom?” Sure, some people are quick to fire on Tebow, but youre lashing out just as fast.

Shoot.

I just wrote an epic response (the one that got away, right?) and left the page without saving.

In summation, I never said (or basically said) to cheer for good guys and against bad guys. I preempted defenses of disparaging Tebow because he is a “Gator tool.” I listed two shining examples of those.

If you think that the word “tool” or “hypocrite” is not vitriol, then we are at odds on the definition of that word.

Is Victor Cruz’s “Cha-Cha” TD dance more annoying than “Tebowing?” The answer may lead the discussion to a place a lot of people don’t want to go.

I realize that this sounds like most of his apologists, and it’s probably the reason that I’ve erased so many defenses when for two years I’ve been wanting to post something. I know I have no way of proving this, but I assure that it addresses my “lashing out fast.” Two years. Probably also the reason that my post might seem a little misplaced. But I wanted the discussion regardless, so there it was. Incomplete and troll-like. And for that, I sincerely apologize.

Dude

I’m as true a Seminole fan as there is. And I root for the New England Patriots.
This parody is funny. I personally have nothing against Tim. I understand the media is the reason for the hype.
I don’t appreciate the in-your-face piousness, and this video mocks that.
And it’s funny.

On the other hand, I think Tebow lives a good life and the world would be a better place with more people like him.
But please ask him to turn down the sanctimony. Thank you.

by CelticPride on Jan 17, 2012 7:50 PM EST up reply actions

Give me one example

of in-your-face-piousness and I’ll ask him to tone it down myself. Is it because he thanks his teammates? Says they make him look better than he really is? Displays an unparalleled grounded understanding of football vs life?

Also, I think the video mocks what Fallon and his producers think is the object of Tebow’s prayers: winning. Has zero to do with mocking religious devotion or jumping on the opportunity that sports has given him to make a lot of downtrodden people happy.

Unreal.

I will say this, even though Bowie is not that difficult to do, Fallon comes through with a great impression. But lyrically, it feels incredibly thrown together. I can’t imagine some of the other things at which people laugh, if this parody is funny.

i have to agree with you on this SalmonNole.

I don’t post here very often, but frequently enjoy the excellent content about fsu football on this site. Anyway I felt compelled to chime in on this topic. Tebow is doing nothing wrong and shows grace and humility before, during and after each game.

Every interview starts with "First, I'd like to thank my lord and saviour..."

It’s IN YOUR FACE.

Or to turn it around, how would you like it if another quarterback started with "It is only through the wishes of the great and merciful Allah that I was able to carry my team to victory.

by CelticPride on Jan 18, 2012 10:12 AM EST up reply actions

I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I may not agree with the muslim faith, but iwouldn’t have a problem with a muslim excersising his freedom of speech and religion. I don’t think Tebow means any harm. The bible tells him to proclaim his faith in public and thats what he’s doing. I don’t see anything wrong with him practicing his faith.

If Dustin Hopkins

decides to make a commercial that shoves his beliefs down the throat of everyone else, then I will criticize him in the same manner. What I’m wondering is if that criticism would be taken for what it actually is, or if it will automatically be classified as “Hopkins hating” and dismissed on principle.

I think this describes it pefectly
http://www.hinduism.co.za/jesus.htm

It is also my considered opinion that Tebow begin some study on what Jesus actually had to say. It appears to me he is simply plugging his dad’s Bob Tebow ministries, a man who supposedly found Jesus while snowed in at a ski lodge in Tennessee.

I am quite familiar with church teachings and have arrived at the conclusion most of the so called clerics haven’t the slightest idea what they are talking about but their followers adhere to a very simple formula and are quite vocal and restrictive as to just what it entails. There is still some truth in the bible but most of it has been edited out long ago. Some passages which seem to point this out deal with the blind leading the blind.

Doc I read TN often and definately respect you as a poster, but I have to say that hindu link you gave was way off. I am also quite familiar with church teachings and the idea that Paul taught contrary to Jesus is not true and to be frank is quite ridiculous. Also, since Paul’s writings were were written while the eye witnesses were still alive he would have been refuted by the other apostles. One final point is that by the time of canon of scripture was put together the new testement books were already accepted and being followed for 100s of years. I ask TN to forgive me for my rant because this is a sports site and not for religion lol.

interesting

I was going to reply to this only to say that I don’t want to turn this into a HuffingtonPost comment thread. Sounds like Doc posted an article similar to one I read recently on HP. But I agree, unless the TN community really wants it, maybe this isn’t the place for historical, biblical debate.

Yea I definately don't want to disrespect

Bud, Frank etc. by getting into a debate about the bible since the TN rules say not to discuss religion.
