Maryland going to a 3-4 defense? Maybe so.
Good read from Ben. Always like to keep up with the competition in conference.

given our current trend of getting elite secondary recruits and extremely versatile DEs, whats the probability we switch?
I know we have run some 3-4 last season for different looks, but do you think it would be a good move for FSU or not?

I highly doubt we'd switch either. Might see some more 3-4 next year as the players learn the system better.
But with the type of DE’s we’re bringing in we’ll need to run a 4-3 to keep them happy/ get the best line players on the field.

Still don't agree
I think the only 3-4 set will be because Jenkins stands up, could be wrong, but why would you want to take our DTs out of the game.

I think Werner stood up a couple of times against OU.
Stoops gave alot of multiple looks in the OU and Clemson games.

Don't think so
FSU can and does get and have the guys to run the 4-3

Isn't part of our decision to hire a 4-3 DC related to the number of 3-4 teams we recruit against?
I remember the words “market inefficiency” being used.
As a BASE defense?? *ZERO* chance.

Bud, do you think they have decent enough personell to run it semi-successfully next year?

We should be OK, not great.
We have a ton of linebackers, but our D-line is a little undersized, and our best candidate for weakside backer pass rushing specialist just transferred. Stewart seemed to have done a great job with the 3-4 at Univ. of Houston, so we’re optimistic.

Thanks Terp. Was Houstons D pretty good this past season?
by jenolesone on Jan 17, 2012 12:05 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Yeah, Houston's D was somewhere in the top 40-60 range, I've heard.
Which is pretty good considering the high power, fast scoring offense they had, the Defense was on the field a lot.

No. But they should be better than this year.

Haha, we are slowly taking a mop to this mess.
Both our coordinators, Crowton and Bradford, have been shown the door. Long way to go, though.
