Why on GOD's green Earth would he do a lateral---to Clemson?!?!?!?!?!?!?
Sure $$$$, but did they wink, wink him a deal to be HBC when Dabo reverts back to his normal Gump-like state? Is it because Big Stoops brought former Arizona Stoops back to Oklahoma? Head scratcher for me…as much as Malzahn going to Arkansas Tech-State or wherever the hell he went…..

Sucks...
Dabo put a nice little staff together over there at Clemson. Oh well, I guess it will be more fun beating them when their a Top 25 team.
Totally Confused
I can’t figure out how anyone can listen to Dabo long enough to hear his sales pitch. Guy sounds like dolt who knows next to nothing about football.
OU
I have a friend here at work that has been telling me for a couple of months that there have been several internal issues at OU and Venables was the causing most of the problems. He said it has been in the works for a while now.
Yup
I got a few OU buddys as well and they had similar things to say. Most of Sooner Nation wanted this guy gone. He was their “Chuck Amato”, at least that was the comparison I got

Meh.
Name recognition for sure, but OU defenses have not be near elite in the past few seasons under Venables. This year especially in losses to TTech, Baylor, and OSU, the defense cost them the game. Hell, Bob even brought in Mike to be his replacement (“co-defensive coordinator”). Not looking like OU fought very hard to keep him…

I think I read on STS
That the last couple years OU’s D has been in the 50s. Not sure which ranking system they used (total, adjusted, etc.), but does that sound about right?
I was referencing Scoring D
Which was average at best.
However, OU plays one of the top sets of offenses every year in the Big 12, and as such F/+ rank for Venables defenses were 3 (2009), 6 (2010), and 7 (2011). Very respectable.

Venables did cobble together one last regular-season Defensive stand against OSU
though his record performance was quickly shattered by Clemson’s bowl game feat for the ages.
Wouldn't mind playing them in September now
No way he turns around a defense that lost that much in one off season. We, on the other hand, return pretty much everybody and have home field advantage. Let’s see how it feels to play your toughest division opponent on the road with that many personnel losses.
It seems that everybody is going to Clemson because they think they’ll have a shot at the job when Dabo Dabos them out of a title run. That being said, they’re definitely spending the money as of lately. Anybody have any scoop on a new major booster?
I was thinking the same thing, almost want to play them early now. But not if it's the week after West Virginia *cough* ACC *cough*.
FSU are back-to-back State champs! Combined score of 120-50.
They've already got a game scheduled that week
They open with Auburn and then get patsies Ball State and Furman. The earliest we can play them is 9/22.

$800-850k
That is elite money for a non-elite DC. Hopefully these boosters get tired of a lack of production and downgrade their contributions.

So Clemson just hired the guy that shut down FSU's offense two years in a row?
Great. I hate Clemson SO much they’re seriously about to jump Miami in my mind…
ehhh
I wouldn’t put much stock into that statement….

In 2010, OU caught FSU's offense without WR's
In 2011, OU caught FSU’s WR’s without an offense.
two thoughts
It is true that the Oklaoma D did shut down the FSU O the past 2 years. How much wes Verables ,,, don’t know, But he obviously had soemthing to do with it, so its not like Clemson hired a bum.
Second -
I know the personality of Dabo .. I’m not defending it, but why do all thread on Clemson seem to bring up his personality?
It is what it is and may prove he be his undoing but a fact is that Clemson (Dabo’s team) has outplayed FSU’s the past few years.
This is true, since 2003 we’re only 3-6 against them (same as UF). But Dabo is still a d-bag, and deserves whatever is said about him. He invites all of it with his professional wrestling style post-game spectacles.
