Around SBN: Yankees Deny Rumors That Team Is For Sale

(from nbcsports.com)
Florida State isn’t a basketball school. Probably never will be. But Leonard Hamilton’s doing his best to ensure the Seminoles are a respectable hoops program (thanks to defense!).

And luckily for college hoops fans, the blogging at Tomahawk Nation is even better than Hamilton’s program.

Great job Michael.

The first sentence of this article is very telling.

Fantastic Q&A

Both this year’s and last year’s write ups have been as fun as the football stuff. It makes being a Noles bball fan a joy even after a Princeton-type game. Thanks and congrats on the recognition.

Excellent interview and articles this year.

I have been pretty impressed with Loucks play this year. Especially of late. Miller is coming along very nicely. Whisnant has looked more confident.

For me the low point of the season was when Young stripped James from behind and the team pretty much folded. Though Clemson was pretty bad.

But the ingredients are there for a deep tourney run. The last two games were very impressive. Will they keep it up? Got to want it for sure.

good stuff as always, and congrats on the exposure

Great insights!

I’m a hoops fan from way back (was actually born in Chapel Hill and raised in Durham—used to sneak into the Duke gym to work out when I was in high school). All of my family went to NC State or Carolina and my dad went to Duke. We breathed bball. When I was at FSU it was during the Robinson years and I went to every home game and saw no one that I went to school with in the stands (which were pretty empty). Now, years later we have a team and coach to be proud of and I’m enjoying every moment. When I was attending FSU I would have killed to have articles like this to enjoy during the season and a team that showed the potential and direction of this one. Your work is professional grade and I enjoy it immensely. Thanks! And keep up the good work (hopefully you’ll have fodder to write about well into March).

PS: I was a CW student at FSU, too. I wish I had your writing skills!

you were doing so well -

but unfortunately you lost all your cool pts -

Every bar and restaurant bathroom in Chapel Hill has "Beat Dook"

written on the wall somewhere. I actually pull for Dook & UNC when they play everyone but us. They are both excellent schools, but it’s hard to describe the relationship they have if you haven’t spent time in the area. It’s not like FSU/FU, as both schools really respect one another and wish the other school to do well. Both schools have earned their chops in BBall. My high school had graduation ceremonies at Duke Chapel. I was busted (with a few friends) with a keg in the grassy area behind the chapel the night before graduation and we caused all kinds of flak for my high school. The way Duke dealt with the issue made me feel that they always had the broader picture in view. I like them for that. Plus, Duke Gardens in the spring with chicks playing frisbee in tank tops is hard to beat!

i feel ya - ive lived right on the boarder d-town/chapel hill for 7 years now

my wife works for unc, (i have a one card) and ive audited classes at duke – and i now work in chapel hill & and have numerous friends at both schools – its just crazy how intertwined the two communities are
your experience must be vastly different from mine – in my experience, most wish ill on the other program and root against them even in the tourney

also if youre going to cite hot chicks as a reason to like one of them, im thinking unc wins hands down ; )

The BBall fans hate the other team, for sure! Didn't mean to imply they did not.

But the team hatred doesn’t extend to the institution and community like it does between FSU, UM & UF.

good stuff - i agree totally -

there is so much institutional collaboration here – grad students in a number of faculties can take courses at either school, there are even joint degree programs –
but the fan bases share no love…

That's cool. The whole RTP area is solid. NC State is a great Eng school.

And you’re right about the Carolina girls being WAY hotter than the average Duke coed.

No, Thank You!

And here’s hoping to your writing a nice recap to another “Get Out!” girl moment after Saturday.

I have a good feeling about Duke tomorrow.

I think we match up well with them. James will shut down Plumlee (the better one). Isn’t it crazy that if we win tomorrow we will be on top of the ACC!!!

by SailorNole on Jan 20, 2012 12:56 PM EST reply actions

I'm just hoping we're competitive tomorrow

It would be one thing if we were playing in Tally, but Duke at home is as close to unbeatable as it gets. If the game is still in question in the final five minutes, it would be hard to get upset even if we did end up losing. As long as we recover and throttle Wake Forest in the following game we’re in great shape.
