Me likey.
Good speed, decisive cuts, and good vision. The only thing that didn’t really show was power/running through tackles. Also showed pretty good balance a couple times.
I love that he got in early to get Spring and Summer in this year.
Need to see how he handles incompletion and 1 on 11 drills
before we get too excited.

plus, i didn't see him punt or kick PATs
plenty to work on at the next level.
Love the EE here.
Hope he really pushes Devonta and yes, Wilder, for carries.

Pushes Freeman? Yes.
The minute he sees the field in G&G he’s already passed Wilder. Why doesn’t that guy want to crush people at Linebacker is beyond me. He could be a real star.
I like turning beer into pee
Sure. Keep dragging it out and we'll have
a solid backup LB in 2014 or N. Alabama Akron will have a new RB.

About what? Something almost everyone here agrees on?
Wasn’t at all my point.

I understood what you were saying
The change needs to take place now if the kid wants a chance to contribute at all

my thought.
"What kind of addicting substance has Jimbo spiked the Tally water with?
It’s this new thing going around campus lately-I think it’s known by the term…"winning". I hear it’s really addictive and the real hardcore victory junkies can smell it from all the way across the nation."

Thirded.
He’s apparently a 1-cut back, and that’s all it takes in those videos.

Meh. I'm underwhelmed.
Seems all he does is scores touchdowns… ;-)

Very one-dimentional
In that regard.

-(Future FSU Star) Mario Pender
So after EJ graduates, 2013 will feature a veteran OL, Freeman/Pender as JR/SO, a young but talented defense
I’m imagining a shift to a Saban-type team with a run-heavy offense focused on helping out the defense.
It’ll be interesting to see how the face of this offense changes with personnel.
Especially considering Michael’s endorsement of Pender as having the most talent of any Gran back – and that includes Cadillac, Ronnie, Deuce, Brandon Jacobs, etc.
And RS soph Coker and possibly Winston
Who could be the most talented QB we’ve had in a decade.
I’d say that would make us more ‘multiple’ going forward.

That young defense will still be extremely talented
Plus the receivers will be too good to go too heavy on the run.

I said before the year Rashad Greene would have an impact as a true freshman, and I will say the same thing about Delmarick Pender going into next year.
When it comes to elite talents like a Rashad Greene or a Timmy Jernigan, depth charts do not matter. I feel Pender is in this category. If he does what he needs to do he will see immediate playing time imo, and could be a starter by the end of the year. He is reportedly up to around 205lbs and you combine this with 10.6 100 meter speed(which he plays up to on the field), it will be very very hard to keep him off the field. He has the potential from a talent(Size/Speed) standpoint to be the best RB that Eddie Gran has ever coached(which includes a couple 1st rounders). I don’t give out this high of praise often, but Pender is legit imo.

In your previous write up you mentioned that he hadn't had much chance to catch the ball...
did they use him more in the passing game his senior season? I only saw on catch in his highlight film.
Also, how do you feel he will do in pass protection?
by bphillips11 on Jan 20, 2012 11:22 AM EST up reply actions
While he didn’t catch many passes this year, Pender did show good hands at the Jimbo Fisher Camp this summer from most reports. Video from Pender this summer at JFC here. So I’m not that worried with him catcthing the ball out of the backfield.
Pass blocking is one of the hardest things to evaluate for high school running backs. I don’t really have a feel how he is in this category. I do think with him EE it will help him in this category the same way it did with Devonta Freeman.
Michael - great evaluation
And thank you for all the fantastic work. Go Noles!!!

Starter by the end of the season?
Pender looks like a great back but do you think he is that much more talented than freeman?
by Lakeland Nole on Jan 20, 2012 11:44 AM EST up reply actions
Pender is more talented then Freeman imo
I like Freeman don’t get me wrong. I just think Pender is the best back to come out of Florida since Trent Richardson.
This Ole Nole . . . .
IS GETTING EXCITED !!!
NoleDoc
See ya later gator hater
In a bowl, Seminole!
I haven't seen that many big runs in any other highlight video
… BUT one area the Froshes fell down on this year was pass protection and it didn’t look like he got much experience picking up blitzes running the Wing T
...have Karlos Williams run the FlexBone with Freeman, Wilder and Pender

That’s more good news heading into the weekend!

Got it, just popped up on Team Stream
Haha!!! War Beagle/Tiger whatever…

Can he run up the middle?
Almost every highlight shows him running to the outside… sure he’s quick, but at the collegiate level, I don’t think he’ll have that same sucess. He makes nice cuts, I just hope he can do well up the gut.
When God hands you lemons, squeeze them in a Gator's eye.
He is awesome.
Is he the most talented RB recruit to come to FSU since Sammy Smith?

"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man."
My FAVORITE recruit out of this entire class
Yes over Winston and MEjr. He’s that Reggie Bush or Peter Warrick type of game breaker and we haven’t had a guy like since Peter Warrick imo
