Ricardo Louis Commits To Florida State Seminoles
Ricardo Louis, one of the top athletes in Florida, has decommitted from the Auburn Tigers and committed to the Florida State Seminoles. Louis had been committed to the Tigers for almost a year.
Louis stars for Miami Beach High School. He is 6'2", 205 pounds. The four major recruiting services rate him four-stars and most have him as one of the top 200 players in the country. Louis holds offers from 15 BCS teams. Florida State had its eye on Louis for a while, and for good reason. Auburn is still without an offensive coordinator as well, which certainly did not help the Tigers' chances of keeping Louis.
Louis is an explosive athlete with an impressive vertical leap. He lacks track speed, but has excellent body control. He is very quick and hits his top speed immediately. Louis is a very aggressive player and a special athlete. He's raw as a receiver, but has all the physical tools. Louis will play receiver for Florida State, but is also capable of playing defensive back.
Louis was an Under Armour All-American and was quite impressive in Orlando.
Louis is the 16th commitment for the Florida State Seminoles, who have by far the best recruiting class in the country on a per-recruit basis.

Someone posted that we bought Louis.
With the recruiting we’ve done the past two years, we must have deep pockets to buy all these prospects. Who do we have a booster these days? Bill Gates?

are we outright buying recruits? unlikely.
are we fudging the rules, like everyone else? absolutely, or we wouldnt win more than 3 games a year and only the lifelong Nole fans or leftovers would commit.
"I guess they have a reputation of being more of a tricky team and not being tough. You hit ‘em in the mouth, and they don’t like it. Other teams that have beat them just hit them in the mouth, so that’s what we started out with.’’ - Nick Moody
Yea, I'm sure you can still find some boosters slipping cash to kids at all programs
Hopefully, Jimbo is smart and demands and taxes 10% of all buy offs to raise money for his foundation.

If anyone knows about buying prospects, it would be them. It’s also funny that the guy basically argued that buying prospects is the only way someone would leave Auburn. LOL at that kind of confidence.
Why on earth WOULD anyone leave...
“Sweet Auburn, loveliest village of the plain,
Where health and plenty cheered the labouring swain”?
Oh, wait… that’s from Oliver Goldsmith’s “The Deserted Village.” And come to think of it, Auburn is starting to look like a deserted village with all the departures. Hmm. I suppose the poem does continue:
“Sweet smiling village, loveliest of the lawn,
Thy sports are fled and all thy charms withdrawn…”

Seems like there are alot of options with this kid. He looks really thick for 205. His frame looks like he could even develop into a freakishly athletic TE if FSU so chooses. We took a poll
and shared the results with Coach Fisher and he saw the light.
We want the ball in in the hands of LOS and not just on kick offs or ints.
End of story.
If he plays receiver
Los should play running back anyway, I think to make him a wr would be a waste. Los will be the next AP of college football if he get the opportunity at rb. Wilder is a LB!!
From the above article:
“Louis will play receiver for Florida State, but is also capable of playing defensive back.”

Outstanding pickup
Criminally underrated. Dade kids that are 6’2’’ and have those jets usually weigh around 165, not 205 with a huge frame.
3 Major Services
ESPN, #5 Ath, #21 Overall
Rivals, #27 WR, #183 Overall
247, #28 WR, #228 Overall
Pretty big spread betweeen ESPN and the other two…
Still, THAT much of a disparity is weird.

Played a lot of QB in hs
Some services have a hard time taking a posititon switch into account.
Harder for the services to look at a kid that had just a little over 400 yards as a top wr. Numbers mean more than they should to those folks. Like All Conference or All American selections.
Coaches know better.
Guy will be a stud after taking a shirt.
Bank on it.
I think he's a top 100 player and have a hard time believeing there are 25 other WR's better than him.

The biggest argument you will hear to counter that is the fact that he is very raw at WR. I think he should be listed as an athlete and probably be in the top 150.
Nah man.
He’s the kind of raw that could see a translation to polished in a year, maybe two. Benjamin’s the kind of raw that might pan out.
Of course, this is my opinion… but he looked like what he knows he is doing to a certain extent on the football field. He seems highly motivated. These are two things that he has over Benjamin already.

I fear no man, for the lord is my Shepard, and his will is my striking staff.
Top WR in Florida imo
He plays for a terrible high school team, who I believe hasn’t had a D-1 prospect in the past 5 years. Get this kid some good coaching and he has the potential to do some scary things. Elite athlete who timed 4.55 40, 4.25 shuttle(quickness), and a 40+ inch Vertical Jump(explosiveness) at over 200lbs.

Do you see him having an impact as a freshman, or will he need a year or two?
This is the kind of WR we need opposite of the Rashad and Shaw.

really? that sucks
I like turning beer into pee
He’s very raw, needs to learn the position, FSU is loaded there, he’ll never play. Why does that suck?
CG
will it take as long for him to come around as it took Christian Green(e?)? similar circumstances….qb to wr switch, redshirt needed

Yep
and after a year of learning….CG was able to show flashes of what he’s capable of…contributed more than expected probably as a RS Frosh….still got him for 3 years too more than likely.

Aside from the few freaks that are around each year
I love being able to redshirt as many players as possible even if they are 4* kids if we have the depth. All kids are in for a surprise hitting D1. Middle of the road teams that red shirt pretty much everyone may not have as much talent as others but can stay on the field sometimes.
You dont redshirt freaks that can make an impact from day 1. Like Jernigan, Clowney, Watkins, and just some freaks.
But if a position is loaded, A RSFr can get so much more valuable then a True Fr playing cause of need or just being a good athlete. I mean I see Casher or Fowler being in postion to Red Shirt. May not happen with such top talent. But its a waste for them to burna year when they are already going to be behind such depth this year. Even if they may start year 1 for many schools

Top WR in FL gets a shirt? - impressive statement about recruiting and depth.
How do you convince a kid to do that and sell him on it?
Next Benjamin?
Los ahead of him on the WR depth chart?
That he will be learning a ton from top coaches
That if he can play he will get playing time as a Red shirt and get quality snaps. He can see young guys play by looking at the team and who plays now. that he will have Coker throwing to him who he can take reps with all year. And then possibly have the best QB recruit throwing to him for a few seasons. Some kids know they are good. And they want the NFL ticket and most believe they have it. If a kid doesnt have a huge ego and is willing to learn. be a part of a special team and program that is rising to the top. And having an extra season to prepare while learning a ton from coaching and being that much better when he plays is something many are willing to do if they know it could get them to play on Sundays one day. Some kids just understand, its the Ego’s that need to start and play from day 1

My first bit of Noles gear was a Zubaz hat... man, I wish I still had that hideous hat...
Tennessee fans always come back with, “We were missing our starting running back.” To me, not a 1 for 1 proposition. I’ll give our starting RB for your starting QB most of the time and certainly that night.
Particularly considering their back-up RB
I think Jamal Lewis was hurt for them, but Travis Henry (another NFL RB) filled in. Our future Heisman winner was replaced by… the Rooster.
They definitely has less of a talent drop off.
Yeah no comparison at all
Rooster was a gutsy player, but was nowhere near capable of adequately filling in for Weinke. I still remember struggling offensively against an awful Wake Forest defense in Rooster’s first start.

You said it in your previous post. They were lucky.
I think we win if Weinke is in, for sure. Funny memory, I was at the game with my brother and a Vol fan, nice lady actually, turned and said — no lie — you guys have won so much recently (meaning in previous years), really you have to admit it’s only fair that we win tonight. I was speechless. What the ever living heck do you say to something like that?
2014 looks even better, IMO.
Veteran OL, 2nd year starter at QB, Freeman (maybe) and Pender with age, plenty of playmakers on offense, potentially the BEST DL in the country, with a lot of talent on D.
This
Frosh OL = seniors
DE class this year = juniors
DT (Goldman, NLS, Mitchell) – juniors w/ Jernigan & Erving seniors
QB – Coker, RS Soph.
2014 looks to be good.
2012 also looks to be good b/c D and little improved O
Coker would be RS JR, Winston would be RS SO
And I doubt Jernigan is still around.
You will not see Tim Jernigan at FSU as a Senior.....he's too good.

Pretty sure Dent passed Haggins on the depth chart in the 2nd half of the season. I didn’t look up any participation stats, but it seemed like I saw Dent a lot more than Haggins.
Gotcha
Didn’t know he got hurt again after he came back from the hand injury. I’d like to see Dent stay (not necessarily over Haggins; may the best man win). I like our WRs as a group, but only a couple of them aggressively attack the ball in the air and he’s one of them. His blocking has improved and he’s played well on some special teams units.

I would couch my answer by saying…
Failing a physical is “easy” just as passing one is But to a larger point, you can DQ out of “risk of injury” in some cases – depending on what your program’s policy is. Not to mention a staff can just ask a player to take a DQ (under the guise of that potential risk).

Didn't Dent pass Haggins at the end of the season?
Or was Haggins still injured? I saw Dent play more.
i can give you 4-6 on that list
i hope Thompson is done, for his own health’s sake. i would cut Smiley, DQ Gehres, Dent gets this year to make it happen (or graduate and transfer), and Tye needs to get on the field if his scholarship is going to mean anything. Abram plays ST, but i want to see him beat Beverly for real PT on offense or let him go too. ST is for the youngins to get their feet wet, not upperclassmen.

acceleration
I love his acceleration… he’s like a slingshot…
Once he gets past the d-line or around the corner he literally launches into the secondary.
So many big weapons on offense next year… between Rodney Smith, Willie Haulstead, Nick O’Leary, Will Tye, Kelvin Benjamin and Ricardo Louis (and Johnathon Johnson if we ever use him.. THAT BOY HUGE)… there’s so much potential for mismatches…
Who is Jonathan Johnson?
And what’s with calling Tye and Benjamin weapons when no one has seen them?

What does this do to our chances with Courtney and his teammate? I havent heard anything about either since Michael posted about him changing is OV to 1/13. Are either of these two looking at FSU still and are we still interested?
It is no way in H311 that with all of this talent coming in...
coupled w/ what’s on the roster already; that FSU shouldn’t “earn” itself a National Title within the next few years if it’s not in the cards this coming year. Very excited about the talent coming in this recruiting class. Now if we can manage to get back Northrup from the Canes then I will be completely satisfied w/ this class.

In quality, we have a great chance when all is said and done. But rankings take numbers of recruits into account. Our class is too small, we wont have a shot at #1. Top 5 though.

Great pick up
equally as great is the inferno of a dumpster fire that is Auburn football
He'll excel with all the bubble screens Jimbo loves to call
Maybe it’s his competition but I thought he had better speed than quickness. So many times I thought there were too many players around him for him to pick up many yards but he just out runs everyone.
Looks faster than a 4.55
On tape he doesn’t get caught from behind and that is So.Fla competition. He must come equipped with “next man” speed.
40 is as much about acceleration as it is top end speed
It probably just takes him a little longer to get off the line being that he’s 200+

Dangerous weapons
If the o-line can protect Manuel and with Louis and bracy playing slots and Greene on the outside and pender in the back field also to go along with a top5 D, then we can/should be dangerous
by BamaNo1e on Jan 20, 2012 5:45 PM EST via mobile reply actions
If injuries decimate us, we will still not be in bad shape.
To decimate is to kill one in ten, as in “decimal”.That is what the Romans sometimes did to conquered forces, as a punishment for opposing the Roman Empire. If that should occur, then we would lose 2.2 starters over the course of the year, figuring 11 X 2 = 22 × .1 = 2.2. The decimation would be 25 X .1 = 2.5 if you add in the kicker, punter and long snapper as starters. With our depth, we should be able to overcome that, especially since, IMO, Louis Bracy and Pender should not be expected to start on opening day as true freshmen and wold therefore not be included in the calculation.

Its amazing the change in recruting since Jimbo took over
We would still always draw that top 15 -20 class for the lost decade. Sometimes even higher. At the time Jimbo took over we were tanked 18th. By next rankings we were 9 and finished like 6th, His second year we all know about.
And now we are to the point that we are getting 3 and 4 kids in the top 25-30 in the nation. We are getting the #1 kids at their positions at multiple positons. And getting the kids right behind them as well.
We had so many top end commits, not counting kickers/punters whatever the stat was like 75+ % are 4 star and higher. And even kids lower tend to be underrated. the 2011 recruiting was fast and furious and ended awesome. the 2012 started so strong and so amazing even before 2011 was done. That when we were not getting any recruits for long stretches people were really getting a bit worried. But all you have to do is look at commits. With starting so heavy with so many top of the spectrum kids that are wanted by everyone, And getting them out of state, has made this class, which even if we did lose one or 2 from still amazing something that has had people on edge of kids flipping and new rumors everyday. Its nice to stop and think that our worries are kids flipping because we already got the cream of the crop. And lost in that and the big names are kids like Louis. Who has not been talked about much. Is another 4* athlete already committed to an Alabama based SEC team that will always be tough to go against. We got lucky that Auburn is going through issues. Flips like this dont happen every day. And its been talked about the last few weeks. But not much if at all before that. And our only loss so far was a kid who wanted to play D and picked us over everyone else when only Oline offers were out. We have brats still crying we took our offer off the table cause we were to busy landing the top QB in the nation(sorry Crying Kelly)
We can still lose someone. We still may. But when we are still slipping kids like this and have targets we are right there for and expect to land a couple. Well. In my babble. FSU is still a top end legit program as much as anyone right now. We need a title and to win the ACC , get the BCS win. But as far as recruiting and getting the program back to complete dominance. With UM history. More Florida schools. We are even ahead of UF the way it should be in my opinion.
Crazy that our worst fears all recruiting was losing a couple kids cause everyone we have is wanted by others. When for a decade we were happy when we scored 4 or 5 top 150 kids to go with our fillers and hope we were just a player away. We have not dominated in recruting like this since I was there in the late 90’s and then you didnt have anywhere near the coverage. Man this is awesome. Holy babble this is crazy.

Hey Bud
Any chance we get some comments from Louis about his flip from AU to FSU? Or wil we likely have to wait until signing day? Just curious to see his perspective.
What a pick up!!
Real physical.. I like how he never waste his time running east and west he always pulls it in and is going up the field before you know it..
Auburn.. What an epic fail..
They tried to steal our defensive coordinator and ended up getting one of their top recruits stolen lol Other teams beware
Just looking at Louis, he reminds me of one big WR from Miami, Andre Johnson
Louis is 6’2’’ 200 lbs.
Johnson is 6’3’’ 226 lbs.
Both are physical, have big frames, good speed, and good hands. Give Louis a few years and I could see him growing into an Andre Johnson clone.
I hope Jimbo works harder on timing and execution
With Los maybe goin 2 offense and greene, green, shaw and smith being the anchors,Jimbo should be ashamed if this offense is not in the top 10 in scoring and yards. Not 2 mention, bracy, louis and pender adding more depth and speed. Wow could be scary, I just hope jimbo’s offense runs with more efficiency and consistency. He really has alot of weapons at his disposal. IDK what u do with haggins and dent. Maybe unsung heroes on special teams?
