NICE!!!
good to hear he is serious about FSU. I have read on here were people said they didn’t want him to take an OV to FSU because he would be recruiting for UGA the whole time.
Still think this is a battle between UGA and UF.

Still think we would have been right in the game
Lattimore is a special talent but our defense was very good versus the run and SC didn’t exactly have a Spurrieresque passing attack. Plus we might have had them after he went down. Plus what if we had a healthy team as well? Still firmly believe we would have had a very good chance at the East had we been in there.

We faced a healthy Lattimore last year, and it took G5 all of 5 minutes to make him an unhealthy Lattimore.

I get what you are saying.
But with all the injuries we had last year, it really isn’t a fair question. At least not if it is being framed as, we (the FSU team) couldn’t handle the preseason pressure .
I think without the injuries, and if our luck would have been as equally good as it was bad, their is no telling how good that team could have been. I think an ACC Championship would have been a given, and a BCS Bowl for sure.
As for UGA, I have no opinion.

Atlanta was recently named the 9th best city for the arts by style magazine. Its the art mecca of the south. It also has the largest percentage of tree and forest coverage of any major city in the US at 36%.
Its also the capitol of Hip Hop and R&B. Think about what kind of music college kids listen to. Think that’s maybe appealing to them?

C'mon now.
Let’s not act like Atlanta is known for great hip hop artists. For every Outkast, there’s 10 Waka Flocka’s. Atlanta hip hop is carried by beats/production and the club scene/strip clubs.
That's because a lot of people...
are trying to make money because Atlanta is the Hustle Capitol of the World and supports itself. But you’re right about the club scene and strip clubs. That is very big business in Atlanta. But the International Business Community in Atlanta is also very big which is why Atlanta is such a major city in the 1st place.
Highly doubt the arts factor into many recruits’ decision making.

agreed Wild
only good part about ATL is the movie.
I liked it. I mean, I’m not black, but I found it enjoyable, engrossing story. The characters are real, and trying to put themselves into a better position coming from varied but overall difficult backgrounds, but obvious that the support in the community is not there. Not that the parents don’t care. The prime example being the mother of Veda and Star (the twins) did really care and you could tell how strict she was with them, and refused for them to waste money on clothes, etc, but at the same time you felt that the mother herself had little direction as a parent. A viscous cycle. Also, its not a movie about race which is nice. The focus remains on the haves and have-nots, highlighted by the story of Esquire and the relationship between Rashad and New New. Not to mention the sound track is very nice.
Otherwise, when I watch Gone with the Wind, I cheer when they show Atlanta burning.

I've mentioned Austin twice.
In relation to college towns it’s an appropriate comparison.
The Funk Phenomenon.
You walk 100 yards away from downtown Athens and earshot of the drunk UGA students
surrounding the campus in their Animal House apartments, and you have Auburn (Barn) lite…lots of desolation—-Old 70’s style brick ranch homes on over-sized lots, little culture, arts etc.
With two major colleges and being the seat of Florida state government, while still retaining the small town college atmosphere, Tallahassee is, hands down, a better place for both a college student and a young family to live and raise a family then Athens (unless you can sneak the kids into Athens’ downtown bars).
What is this?
Why was my “Is the poster FSU actually Terry Saban?” post/thread deleted from a previous recruiting thread, but you guys can go on for what, a 100 posts about Atlanta, which really doesn’t have anything to do with recruiting.

The difference between 4 and 5 star re hits
Is not that big. Alabama had the best unit in the nation and only one was a 5 star and I don’t think he was a consensus 5 star.

Its a pretty big difference
Far fewer 5* players. Depending on service some have less then 10. some have 20, while having usually a couple hundred at least 4*. Border line kids that are literally a single evaluation point for 5* may not matter as much. But over all stars matter. And that is something we have discussed en mass. With all the numbers backing it up. I would always take a team of 11 on defense with four 5* four 4* and three 3* then a team with two 5* eight 4* and one 3*.

What matt is trying to say is that a guy who is a borderline 4-5 star is not really a big deal.

Depends on the evaluator
Saban said that Hightower was best lb prospect in the country and he was a 4 star. My point is that their are a number of 4 star prospects not far from 5 star recruits. There are countless examples. Tide defense had 2 5 star recruits this year. I would say that was a solid unit.

Good news but....
Still think this is a “visit high” comment. I’m hopeful but he is most likely UGA/UF bound. If so, please let it be the Dawgs.

I'll be perfectly happy if
JHC goes to Georgia and not UF. FSU is a program moving in the right direction, but Georgia has a bit more to offer. The opportunity to play in a 3-4 defense(most NFL teams run 3-4),SEC, excellent college town, SEC, close to home, SEC, hour and a half away from Atlanta, SEC. I am glad to hear that FSU is doing well on official visits, now we just need to start winning at a high level.

Most NFL Teams Don't run a 3-4 defense.
It is much easier to find pass rushing DEs, then is to find pass rushing OLBs, in 3-4 who are also good in pass coverage. JHC is probably going to UGA, but you never know with HS kids.

Oops
and yeah 3-4 OLB’s don’t exactly grow on trees.

I'm I the only one surprised that we look like we're gonna close strong?!
I shouldn’t be with the track record of this staff but for some reason I expected us not to close as strong as we appear to be doing on the recruiting trail, pulling guys (or at least gaining interest) that I thought we really had no shot at…

seems like this thread
will give people a lot of false hope. Like when we “were in it” for Peat as well.
Did Peat even show up this weekend?

From Rivals "free" section (public info)
Top unocmmitted recruits and predictions where they’re going.
Goldman and Darby got all six picks for FSU.
Howard solid to UF, JHG solid to UGA and Peat solid to Nebraska.

That picture of Andrus Peat does not look like someone who would be a 5* OL, or any kind of High School Sr. Football player..
Now take a look at - L.Williams, T.Johnson, or E.Goldman, them are some GAM that look the part.
I guess that just means that A.Peat still has a lot of growing to do, at 6’7" 305lbs, that is really scary. I hope that Man Child ends up in G&G, along with E.Goldman, R.Darby, and L.Williams. Of course I would love to see all of them on that list in G&G, but that isn’t reasonable to even the most optimistic of us. So I will take those 4, with A.Peat as the biggest reach.
