FSU has 16 commitments on the board as of 1/22/12. 3 are already on campus. The commitments/targets are taking visits through the short time period between the National Championship game and Signing Day. In this post, I'll try to mention all of the targets we have on the board.
Remaining targets for 2012:
.ATH Nelson Agholor 6-3 185 Berkley Prep (Tampa, FL)
Agholor is one the most prized prospects in the nation. A multi-position player that is being recruited on both sides of the ball, Agholor was primarily used as a running back by Berkely Prep a.k.a his high school team but is projected as either a wide receiver or safety at the college level. Agholor was considered an early USC commitment due to his high school head coach's friendship with the Kiffin family and Nelson named the Trojans his “Dream School”. Since then, he has been considered a lean to the University of Florida. Lawrence Dawsey remains in contact with Agholor as his still determining his college team.
OT Andrus Peat 6-7 305 Corona Del Sol (Tempe, AZ)
A tall athletic kid with very nimble feet Peat has a high ceiling as a potential cornerstone left tackle. Most of you who follow recruiting may know his brother Todd Peat Jr. He is a freshman defensive tackle at the University of Nebraska. That probably makes them the favorite. The competition for his services is primarily a battle between Nebraska, Stanford, and FSU is in 3rd. His grandparents live in Tally..
DT Eddie Goldman 6-4 315 Friendship Academy (Washington DC)
One of the top defensive line prospects in the nation, FSU has been thought to be the frontrunner to land the big lineman since the summer when he attended the Jimbo Fisher camp and connected with Nole recruits such as Justin Shanks from Prattville and Mario Edwards Jr from Denton. His recruitment will only get you more anxious down the stretch as programs such as Auburn, Alabama, and ACC foe Clemson will press hard in order to gain Goldman's sig in Febuary.
DE Leonard Williams 6-5 254 Mainland HS (Daytona Beach, FL)
Williams is Southern California native. Auburn and Florida are probably the leaders. But, his recent visit was reported to go very well.
ATH Josh Harvey-Clemons 6-4 200 Lowndes HS (Valdosta, GA)
Initially thought to be an FSU/UGA battle, Harvey-Clemons is from a high school that in recent years has provided Florida State with such talent as cornerbacks Greg Reid and Tyler Hunter, linebacker Telvin Smith and special team/ Safety Gerald Demps. Most recruiting heads have dubbed Harvey-Clemons as a much harder pull due to him being in a UGA household. Even with that being an issue Josh has stated that Florida has recruited him harder than anyone else. He projected to be either a linebacker, safety, or wide receiver at the college level.
DB Tracy Howard Miramar (FL) HS
Analysts and scouts claim that Howard may be the best cornerback from the state of Florida in a while. High praise indeed but Howard is a smart, athletic, scheme versatile cornerback who could very well force his way onto the field early despite FSU's stacked secondary. The Seminoles still have to gain the US Army All American's commitment first, obviously. Jimbo will be going to make an in-home visit soon. He also has an LSU visit looming.
DB Brian Poole Southeast HS (Bradenton, FL)
Poole is yet another committed kid on our target list. A hard hitting player, the Gator commit and Under Armour All American is said to be in contact with Florida State coaches and could possibly set up an visit before NSD.
DB Colin Blake Brandeis HS (San Antonio, TX)
He recently de-commited from Texas A&M. He is left with 3. Oklahoma, FSU, and TCU. He visited FSU last weekend and visted TCU this week. I think we have a good shot at landing the Texas Cornerback.
LB Reggie Northrup First Coast (Jacksonville,FL)
A Miami Commitment but, he is still definitely in play. He visited FSU this weekend. There is a very good possibility of a switch.
OL Caleb Gulledge Prattville HS (Prattville, AL)
High school teammate of Justin Shanks and Bama commitment. Could be in play.
please comment if I missed any that is still in play
