Ricardo Louis Decommits From Florida State
Looks like he pulled the trigger while he was still on the high from his official visit. He'll decide on signing day between FSU and Auburn.

"moving to offense"

if he got moved to offense i could only see him as a wide reciever
by TheRenegade29 on Jan 25, 2012 7:48 PM EST up reply actions
I think it depends upon how dedicated the staff is to the move.
If it is a full-time move, then I can see him at RB. He has the size to be a RB. He played it in HS. He would be a nightmare for opposing LBs to cover on pass plays. If by some chance they do have a LB that could keep up with LOS, then NOL should be running free. We’re no where as deep at RB as we are at WR right now, so I can see Jimbo putting him there. But that is only if it’s an all-in move b/c I think he needs that time and effort to pick up the blocking. D-Free picked it up pretty well after only 1 spring, so maybe LOS could too. LOS not only returned the ball well, but he also crushed some people on SpTms last yr. If it works out and JWJ is buried in the depth chart, then maybe he’d move to LB.
If it’s not an all-in move, and the idea is just to get him a few plays in on O and keep his primary position as a S, then I think it’s at WR. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.

Does this
have anything to do with Auburn signing an OC finally?

The OC situation has everything to do with this kid imo.
He was solid on Auburn until they were short an OC at which point he switched to us. Now they have an OC and he immediately drops us and heads back in their direction. I dont think that is coincidence. They got their OC and probably Louis as that was his school of choice all along. I hope I’m wrong.

The logic seems to elude me, though.
Auburn was going to have an OC before the season started anyway, even if they had to hire you or me. What little I’ve read (because I don’t know the guy) tells me the man they hired is not particularly strong. So, why waffle over an OC?
Waffling over having no idea who the OC would be
and thus no idea what system would be in place or how he could be used in that system. Its hard to be a top offensive player committed to a team without an offensive coach imo.

I suppose the scheme argument makes some sense.
Though, again, I have a hard time seeing the kid read the ticker about who they hired and suddenly gripping about missing out on the chance to play under him.
Most likely
thats what happened they hired an OC and now he wants to do his homework on the new coach. See how he is and what kind of vive he gets from him. At 18 it’s a tough call for someone, specially with his talents. Go with a school he likes, or go with a school that he likes and makes the most sense for him.

Dude
He was a recent flip. If there’s one thing I’ve learned is recent flips are the last ones I trust until they enroll or sign the dotted line.
It’s not over. We’d love to have him come. And whichever he chooses.
It’s still okay.
Bud, Michael, etc ...
Anyone have any comments on the likelihood he picks FSU on NSD? is it 50/50?
I would think Auburn
would definitely have the advantage as they have put in much more effort and have had much more face time with this kid right?

We seemed to only pop up on his radar
when Auburn was short an OC imo. As soon as one was hired he started back that direction immediately.

Think this was purely
coming down from his visit? how much part did AU hiring Loeffler play in it?
I suspect it's not 50-50. Buyer's remorse does not come when it's 50-50.
My guess is he is leaning toward Auburn, but wants to keep the door open at FSU for when he finally decides.

Would love to have him. Any additional playmaker on the field is a good thing. But let's not act like we just lost an RB commit. We're pretty deep at WR
Again – definitely is a want. Not a need. Louis/Agholor would always have been the icing on the cake.

3….. 2….. 1…..
Any word on him after his USC visit?
My understanding was if he didn’t commit right away, it’d essentially be a 50/50 UF FSU battle.
He's either going to be a problem for UF at Auburn
Or a problem at UF at FSU….either way, atleast he’s going nowhere near UF/Miami

If you've followed recruiting before, you know this happens a lot.
Kids come off highs from a visit and switch, only to start to second guess the decision a days/weeks later. It’s common in recruiting.

You're probably right. But if he committed "high" off his visit, it makes sense that he'd decommit to "think it over" after a visit from AU coaches.
There is a lot ot think about for sure. But Jimbo gets the last shot at him. My guess is the visit from AU rattled his mind, but didn’t change it.
So you're saying that he's a re/de/re?

A voice of reason has spoken!!!
"He doesn't know the meaning of the word fear, but then again he doesn't know the meaning of most words" - Bobby Bowden
To be fair
Auburn was his original choice, it’s natural for him to waiver a bit after getting talked up by AU’s new OC. Although him not immediately committing to them is a good sign, I’m concerned that more players might go this route (toward grandstanding on NSD).

I believe that's why the good guy wins in the end.
And if he doesn’t and goes to Auburn. We can rationalize it by saying…“do we WANT a guy that stupid?” It’s a win win really

Dig these two posts. I actually question the guy’s make up, mostly due to the Cam Newton For Hire fiasco. But, obviously, I don’t know him from a fish at the bottom of the ocean. So, this is pretty cool stuff. Gives another side even if it’s not enough to judge a man, either way.
But to play the devils advocate...

Not naive to the pressures that d1 coaches face and if u ever had the chance to get a guy like cam it would be hard to stay true to your morals. But i think he is a good coach, and has done a nice job of turning the au program around after tuberville drove it into the ground. We will see what he’s made of now that his coordinators left.

Honestly.
I will look at him differently now. I’ll start at scratch and simply listen to what he has to say from here.
I have found your "listening" approach
to be very encumbering. Now I use a list of labels, d-bag, moron, cheat, etc., all negative, and randomly apply one or more of these to each of our opponents under discussion. I think that’s much more fair. Quicker too.

I like him. I know its a tough decision. And would want him on the team
At same time decomitting from your school for a year. Committing to FSU. Then decomitting 3 days later this close to signing day when coaches are busy as hell, running all over the country, and trying to lock down kids 24/7 for the next week. Almost makes me want to pull the offer and say ok kid. We dont have time for this. We gave you a spot. We want you. And we need to focus here. Call us the night before signing day and if you want to come ask if we have an open spot still. If we do come on over. But we dont have time for this with a week to go. FSU is still recruiting hard and at an elite level. We cant play these games. Hope you come here and there is still room. If not good luck at Auburn.
And yes I know how it works. And it happens. Would still like him here. But at same time FSU doesnt have time for these games now. So I am frustrated. Although prob am harder on him because he was not really even talked about or expected as a Nole till he suddenly committed. At a position we are deep on. So if he doesnt make it and regrets it later. Sorry kid

I'm with ya here
Gets boring seeing some of these guys do the whole commit to one place, three days later commit to another place, then back to the original team. I wouldn’t even want gunner kiel since he’s the same way
This kid didn’t commit back to Auburn though. He’s now not committed to any one
From his perspective he found a school he really liked early, playing in a system he really though he could be good in long term. That OC left and they hadn’t named a new one. So there’s uncertain feelings there – This wasn’t what he committed to at all. It’s changed. They still hadn’t named the OC. So he looked at other options who had remained on him – FSU. Went like what he saw and said “OK, this is what I was looking for in a school. I had that earlier with Auburn but now it’s changed. I don’t know what they’re doing.”
When Auburn hired a new OC, it changed things because at least now he had a comparison. He liked the school, he liked the HC, but there was no OC and no idea what he’d be doing when if he was there. Now he has what Auburn may do. So he’s now taking a step back to look at both schools and compare. Auburn came in and presented their case. Now FSU will do the same.

I completely agree
I dont blame the kid at all. Its not his fault the situation at Auburn changed after he committed.
by dominicannole on Jan 25, 2012 4:02 PM EST up reply actions
Not saying he did recommit to Auburn
Then I would pull my offer. And I know very well how it works. Seen it time and time again. Why I am not advocating pulling it. But a week a way to say it then back out just as quick when coaches are trying to finalize what they have just has me saying focus where you were going to focus, and if he wants in then great. But we should not go recruit him extra hard and go off plan. And if a spot is in holding then I would want him like I said. But at same time this is a bonus, and someone we were not in on till recently. So to throw a coach off track where they are recruiting him instead of someone who we have been targeting and are in a dog fight with is where its somewhat annoying.
I know these are kids. But decommit, commit somewhere else, decommit 3 days later, wait till NSD, get another few mins on ESPN for your choice, thats what goes on in these kids heads also.
My bigger problem is decommiting from 2 schools in a few days then it is flipping strait up. And the it happens a week before for a kid we would like to have but dont need its like well let us know what you want and your welcome here if we have not signed someone else

Gotta question his judgment when he decommits from a class as dominant as our to consider Auburn in thier current state.
That being said, I still really hope we land him. I can’t get those Anquan comparisons out of my head.
Maybe the strength of the class
was not his top priority.
Dogs bark in the night but the caravan moves on.
It is not fair to be hard on the athletes...
the greatest majority of them embrace the school they choose and do their best. Greg Reid could easily have been a Dawg, or a Gator.
The history of Greg Reid's commitment...
says that he first committed to Florida, then de-committed, then chose FSU over UGA and Alabama.
Yeah, I know it, I was just joking around.
There are a bunch of guys who have starred for us (and many other teams) who almost went somewhere else. As long as they’re all garnet & gold once they get here, that’s just an understood part of the recruiting game.

In jimbo we trust.
Lets not bash the kid, let jimbo go to work and bring him into the seminole family and the rest will be history!
Let's be honest
WR is the one position where we can comfortably go into NSD with some doubt as to who is coming here. If we get him, great. If not, we’ll be fine. I’m a lot happier about flipping an offensive linemen our way than I am upset about potentially losing a WR, even if that WR is the better player.
