Multiple reports have Dante Fowler sticking with FSU. It appears to finally be over.
What a wild ride this was for everyone involved.

Of course, Richard Marx quotes aside
He’s an excellent addition to this class. And I look forward to his great career in Garnet and Gold.
Really sqeezing all the attention he possibly could
Glad he is FSU. Will wait for the signature. Seems like he figures he will get more air time on ESPn with a presentation then an announcement so maybe thats why he switched that idea

When Dizzy Dean showed up in the big leagues and became a story,
he supposedly gave three different names and three different birth places to three different sports writers. When confronted with that fact, he was quoted as readily admitting all three fabrications, refusing to give his true information, and explaining his actions by saying that he just wanted to give a scoop to each of the writers. Let us hope that young Mr. Fowler is as talented on the field as he is as his own public relations agent. If so, then maybe the Noles will equal the success, and the fun ride, of the 1934 St. Louis Cardinals. Either way, NSD is not yet here and I am already worn out. Let’s go Noles! Gas House Gang redux!
Good luck with deflating that ego.

Too much drama involved with this kid........
Even MEJ shut it down a week ago. This kid is all about self………yes I understand he’s talented but his ego will not mesh well with this coaching staff. I understand it is the drama of NSD, but damn at some point stop playing the damn games. Eliot and Stoops will break his a$$ down quickly when he gets here in the summer. We don’t need prima donnas on this team, talented or not.

Get over yourself and be happy a 5* has confirmed his commitment. At least if wavering has resulted increased exposure for FSU.

I'm not a star whore........doesn't matter if he's a 3 star or a 5 star.
Coaching is what develops talent. We’ve had plenty of 5 stars who haven’t paned out. Yes I’m happy he selected FSU and ended his recruitment, yay for us. Leonard Williams would do just as fine. I’m just not big on ppl who want that spotlight, and I just wasn’t thrilled how Fowler handled the situation……….just my opinion. Get over yourself.

by BigSpearDiplomacy on Jan 29, 2012 3:07 PM EST up reply actions
his 3* recruits were a couple controversial ref calls from winning the Sugar Bowl
seems to be working out pretty good.
They got that bid based on travel/TV expectations, they failed spectacularly, and lost to the worst 11 win team Michigan has ever fielded
long-term process > short term results. Beamer won’t see another BCS bowl for many, many years the way CU and FSU are recruiting.
I don't get worked up over any of the things he does
but there’s no question the coaches have some work to do to get him to be a team first guy. This predates 2011.

I didn't know he showed signs in high school of being a discipline problem.
That concerns me, but as deep as the team is going to be across the defensive line, if he can’t pull things together FSU should still be okay.
His ego is too big.........
Try crossin Jimbo like that……….he will ship him right back to Lakewood.

Bobby Hart?
Whoever he is, he’s wrong. Fowler’s interest in UF was legit. Even if we don’t lose him, we sure as heck could have.
I actually lol'd
well played sir, well played
Impact on Leonard Williams?
If part of the concern with taking a commitment from Williams was that he could spook Fowler (at least if one values Fowler more highly), does solidifying Fowler’s commitment now make a push for Williams more viable? Is there still optimism that Williams would prefer to be at FSU, or has that slow play now perhaps put Auburn on top regardless of if FSU makes a bigger push with Fowler firmed up?
Maybe we got some bad news on Williams behind the scene.
Williams to Auburn, Hamilton to UF and Fowler to us makes the most sense right now.
by FSUActuary on Jan 27, 2012 7:31 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Do you think Hamilton's probable switch to UF affected Fowler's decision?
Seems like if he didn’t want too much competition here, the same should hold true at UF.
by BobLoblaw113 on Jan 27, 2012 7:34 PM EST up reply actions
Yep, definitely.
And it was stated in the recruiting threads that UF got another DE commitment, likely insurance for Fowler.
by FSUActuary on Jan 27, 2012 7:37 PM EST via mobile up reply actions
Williams is a great player
but at this point I think the scholarship is better used at another position. We get to add depth elsewhere, and he gets to play somewhere without a half dozen NFL prospects ahead of him at his position.

sounds like good news to me

Let's hope his love attention sparks him to do miraculous things on the field to earn the right kind of attention.
Let's hope his ego doesn't get in the way of his development.
A big ego is often a compensating mechanism for deeper insecurity. Those who are deeply insecure generally go one of two ways when faced with a challenge – they overcome it, or they listen to the little voice inside of them that says they are not good enough. When they listen to that little voice, that is when they self destruct. They curse out coaches, beat up women, etc., etc. Whatever excuse they can create to fail. He will be faced with some major challenges at FSU, no doubt.
I worry very much about a 5 star prospect that rides the pine his senior year because he can’t get along with his coach. Not many high school coaches will sit a player with his level of talent. It’s not good for their job security. This coach had to think it was important enough to bench him to risk being able to put food on the table for his family. Whatever his problems, they are not trivial.
So color me not all that excited. I’m afraid this kid’s a bust in the making and possibly a another future black eye on my alma mater. If he pans out, great. I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Until then, I remain dubious.

I heard he was tempted to flip to the gators b/c Muschamp offered Fowler a spot with him on the red eye gator poster this year.

Werner and Jenkins are gone after this season
So the rest can get snaps in some games. MEJ will see most action. Casher could even redshirt with having missed a season anyway. And depending on formations MEJ “could” play in or out

I'd like to redshirt both Casher and Fowler
Its not like we have any current issue with depth at DE. Werner/Tank/Hicks/Jenkins/Edwards Plus we can go huge and slide McAllister or Dawkins out to DE.
Give both these two time to get acclimated/experience coaching and strength. Yes please.
you won't get 5 star caliber players anymore
if you redshirt them.
Thats just not true...
Some 5 star guys are fine with being redshirted. Many lineman need the extra year to get bigger and learn the system. You shouldn’t make it a point to redshirt all 5 stars but there are many reason why its done.
I’d like to redshirt Casher because of coming off his injury and redshirt Fowler to get bigger and learn something about his ego. Its not like I want them shirted just cause and one of the two should actually take a shirt anyways.
What injury did Casher have?
'see da broad ta get tha booty yackum, layem down smackum yackum...ho got ta be.... shiiiiiit!' 'early to bed early to rise makes a man healthy wealthy and wise'
Isn't Werner a junior next year?
Are we so sure he leaves early? The same way we were sure Jenkins and Rhodes would be gone?
Yea. But I think he can be a first rounder by end of season
hes a bit older as well. Add in Jenkins, Rhodes, Joyner, and Jones who can leave as well and all be possible first or 2nd round picks. With Reid possible going a bit later maybe even tank and FSU is playing with an NFL defense this year

They're just taking the logical extension of stars mattering
That’s 96 stars they signed. If FSU has 20 kids in this class, they almost all have to be 5 stars to be as good as Miami’s. It’s simple math.
