Here we go again, someone whining about the ACC officiating. Was it really that bad? I can't say for sure since I was unable to watch the complete game but a few things that I saw left me a little more than puzzled.
1. Is the KB incomplete pass a catch??? You have one foot in bounds (a completed pass by college rules) and the other foot lands out of bounds then you hit the ground and the ball pops out. Did his elbow hit first? Is that not a completion? It was ruled an incomplete pass.
2. NC State has the ball on 4th down deep in the Nole territory. Glennon drops back and passes the ball to his receiver. The receiver bobbles the ball as he's falling to the ground. The ball CLEARLY moves right before he secures it. If the refs use the same logic they used on the KB play then surely this will also be an incomplete pass. No, it was ruled a completed catch.
I really can't seem to make sense of these calls. Did anyone besides myself see this second play and not scratch their head. If not go to ESPN3 and play it. It's around the 3 hour and 33 minute mark. I'm trying not to use blind homerism but this situation stinks of total incompetence. Yeah, no one's perfect but the officials had a chance of getting this call right and I think they got it completely wrong. The holding on that last series was quite obvious also but what can you expect. How are you to move pass this situation. I mean what can we really do??? I obviously it shouldn't have come down to the refs but I do believe those bad calls were game changers.
