Wide receiver Peter Warrick caught one touchdown pass and threw for another, and Florida State's defense did not allow Florida to convert a single third down all game as the fifth ranked Seminoles defeated the fourth ranked Gators 23-12 in Tallahassee. The victory extended FSU's home unbeaten streak to 40 games and kept UF coach Steve Spurrier winless at FSU for his coaching career.

Marcus Outzen, who was starting just his second game at quarterback, completed 13 of 22 passes for 167 yards, including the 32 yarder to Warrick that gave FSU a lead they would never give up at 13-12 with 3:29 left in the third quarter. Travis Minor led a potent FSU ground game with 127 yards on 30 carries.

Florida's only points came in the first half on a 50 yard TD bomb, a safety and a 22 yard field goal following the safety.

FSU's defense held UF scoreless in the second half and allowed the Gators just 204 yards of total offense, the lowest output for the Gators in eight years. Quarterback Doug Johnson was just 13 of 36 and threw three interceptions.

Sebastian Janikowski drilled two field goals in the first half to offset Florida's 12 points, giving the Seminoles hope although they trailed 12-6 at halftime.

FSU's first lead came on their first possession of the second half when Outzen's pass deflected off a Florida defender and into the hands of Warrick, who snaked the remaining 32 yards into the endzone.

The Seminoles grabbed momentum for good early in the fourth quarter. Travis Minor's 46 yard touchdown run was called back for holding, but on the next play Warrick took a reverse and threw a 46 yard touchdown strike to Ron Dugans to give the Seminoles a 20-12 lead with 13:30 left to play.

Janikowksi sealed the win with a 41 yard field goal with 4:31 remaining. The win gave the Seminoles an 11-1 regular season record.
