My take on conference expansion and football playoffs - or what I'd like to see

Here's the way I see the 4 major conferences stack up. All with 16 teams each, 2 divisions each with a conference championship game.

  • 10 game regular season schedule.
  • each team plays each division team once, plus one game in other division allowing for 2 inter-conference games (among the big 4) per team. This allows to keep regional rivalries alive...ND vs USC etc.
  • conference championship game.
  • 4 team national championship playoff between conference champions.
  • all teams other than conference champs available for bowl games.

You will of course note that this leaves out the ACC as a BIG football confernece with some football schools left in the cold. Nothing's perfect! ha!

OK...let the conversation begin!
