Running backs coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Gran will not return to Florida State next season.

Florida State running backs coach and special teams coordinator Eddie Gran reportedly will not return as part of the Seminoles staff in 2013, according to Noles247.com.

Gran, whose name has been floated in relation to the Arkansas State head coaching job vacated by Gus Malzahn as well as the Cincinnati offensive coordinator spot, has been an assistant coach for over 25 years but has never had experience as a play-caller. If a head coaching position is on the table, now would be the opportune time for the 47-year-old Gran to take it.

At this stage in his career, Gran would not be leaving simply to make a lateral career move - his salary could potentially double or triple from the $335,000 that he is currently being paid at Florida State.

Gran is an excellent recruiter, particularly in the talent-rich South Florida region. The loss could have a negative effect on the Seminoles' recruitment of SoFla, where about 25 current 'Noles are from.
