Ongoing/Off-Topic Discussion Thread #71

Today's helpful hint: When posting a link in your comment, please make sure you click the Open in New Window box.

.

You know the drill. If you have a off-topic comment, or want to start a off-topic thread, please do it here instead of in an existing thread on another subject. If you have a non-recruiting question, ask it here.

  • Please "recommend/REC" this post so it stays pinned.
  • New Members, please read through the Tomahawk Nation Welcome Guide! We put a lot of work into that and it should enhance your experience here.
  • New Members are also encouraged to read the Did You Know: A Guide to Better Using TN which contains some tips and shortcuts to make your experience here easier and more enjoyable.
  • For information on recruiting prospects, please refer to the Florida State Recruiting Board 2012. Our recruiting writers work hard and do a great job of keeping the recruiting information as current as possible.
  • We are asking our members to comment about recruiting on the current 2012 Recruiting Discussion Thread currently open in the Recommended Fanpost section on the right side of the page, instead of the recruiting board. There you can feel free to talk recruiting news, rumor, information, etc. Amateurs and experts are all welcome. No question is too simple. Have a projected class? That's fine as well.
  • The SPECIAL PAGES AND GREATEST HITS section is located on the left side of the front page for your convenience. Here you will find the links to some of the most referenced stories from Tomahawk Nation, the Current Roster Sorted by Eligibility Year, as well as other TN favorites.
  • If your fanpost is under 200 words or unlikely to inspire extended discussion, it will be deleted. It's not fair to have people take the time to write quality fanposts and have them pushed down by stuff that isn't fanpost quality.
  • Links to articles or quick blurbs belong in this thread or in the fanshot area. This also applies to links to articles with your opinion attached.
  • REMINDER: To recommend a comment, please click on the red actions button FIRST, THEN click on the red REC button.
  • REMINDER: If you get lost following a long thread, you can click on the "UP" button on the comment you are wondering about, and it will take you up to the original comment that the member was replying to.
  • REMINDER: When replying to a comment, please click on the red reply button FIRST, THEN type your reply.
  • REMINDER: Comments such as "First" or "Second" (etc.) posted to start a thread will be deleted and you may face a 1 day ban (or more). If you can't think of something substantial to post, either don't post anything or please go comment on another site.
  • WARNING: We don't allow profanity in non-game threads. Please don't do it.

Question about a rumor...FSU Clemson Committees exploring Big 12 options?

I know some WVU blogger posted that supposedly FSU and Clemson have formed committees to evaluate possible entry into the Big 12 possibly in 2013. I have not seen any other independent reports indicating such a rumor is true.

Does anyone on here know if there is anything to the rumor?

Yes I know sometimes I wonder about the algorithms. Some wonder why I do it and well it is simple. I walked the same halls as the students we see posting here. Pushing towards being an old man, I am arrogant enough to believe I have something to add to the conversation they may have not pondered in life. I wish all students and young people well but feel a special affinity toward FSU students. I do not relish watching them flounder for information that I feel I can provide, especially when it comes to the “conspiracy” debate.

Random organization between peoples and institutions goes on every day. When more than one person come together to coordinate their activities and plan future actions, reach goals and objectives, with a common plan, it is a conspiracy. There is nothing unusual about it. The only thing unusual is small groups of people who blissfully seem to thing that is not possible. What is even more baffling is believing those in the higher echelons of power do not do exactly the same thing. Indeed they have more resources and influence to accomplish such goals. It would seem also that almost anything could be accomplished when the hoi poi run like frightened chickens at the mere mention of the word “conspiracy.”

Fluoride is certainly working when people do not believe that global bankers do not plot to control economic entities, government, markets and economies to make money, lots of money. Hello is anyone not familiar with PAKs and campaign contributions used to install favorites in Washington and Downing Street.

O.K. lets play stupid, Kissinger never dines with George Soros and Sarkozy. Rockefeller has never heard of Rothschild. Momma come get your baby boy. Four centuries ago Villegas wrote that Money is a powerful Lord. It is still disconcerting to see how it marches roughshod over a suffering humanity.

No I am afraid my world view is is a little more substantial than sound bites taken from CNN. It is a result of reading literature on a somewhat different level than Dick and Jane and watching dancing with the stars.

I was was young once also and believed the world was driven by the pursuit of justice and the common good. The goal it seems is not the establishment of good international law, ethical values or democracy. The goal I am afraid is power and money and the ability to do this is being gathered into the hands of a smaller few as we speak. If you sit and think for awhile, I am sure you will come to that conclusion also.

When these entities hold sway over the U.N. and this same organization indicates we need to reduce the world population by 90%, it would seem prudent for the more coherent among us to not only read the front of food packages but the back as well. A quick perusal of what GMO does to male sperm and exactly what is in the vaccines might also be in order, especially when read of pockets of young school girls in upper New York state who have developed strange neurological disorders which perplex doctors who never seem to ask what their vaccination history is.

In fact of the 37 million corporations roughly, 141 control now over 60% of the world’s wealth and the owners are related by marriage and blood lines. So I am afraid I cannot join those in their fantasy world that suggests people do not conspire to increase their wealth and power. In ancient Rome they dumbed them down with bread and circuses which were probably more entertaining than Lady Gaga. Things haven’t changed so much and the queen still curtsies before the pope I might add.

I strongly suggest we must make an effort in life to learn what our education did not allow us to know. Yes Marsha there are conspiracies and those who make light of this undeniable fact most likely saw it on the web somewhere and thought it was a clever response when faced with a subject that completely is beyond their grasp.

I apologize if some of you feel some of my rants are beyond the pale, but no matter, we still share a bond of being FSU grads, not to mention sharing the planet together. I enjoy getting a word in edgewise until I am banned anyway.

How do you choose to make your points.

Are you saying Gates is not on record as saying vaccines should be used to reduce the worlds population?

Are you saying that Gates does not have a reservation in what is commonly referred to on the web as the “doomsday seed vault” in Norway. From what some close to Norway politics infer on the web, they can house half the population of Norway should some unexpected event come their way?

Are you saying he has not just bought the Merck company?

If that is you what you are saying then you are very wrong. Skip the drive bys and tell us what you think and why. That is the way debates work.

It is a funny thing with these interwebz

When someone is trying to censor information it is always you did not provide a link, or in some cases you have the wrong link. Some of the simple things I just assume most people have run into some type contact with it. But that is not always the case.

I don’t mean this in a bad way but we can all get better, but how long have have you been practicing as a gatekeeper? This is pretty transparent.

Perhaps I am wrong but I do sense somewhat of an anti-intellectual tone. Shall we say a reticence to discuss the issue and dance around with a kill the messenger type mindset.

Methods of deflection are improving and certainly progressed further than the momma’s computer routine. I haven’t seen the moon landing skit used in awhile. I would caution against that one as there are some serious discrepancies centering around it.

http://www.rense.com/general79/apol11.htm

From what I can gather a couple of you don’t like photos, don’t like links and don’t like discussions. What are we to think? Is the only criteria, hey I saw it on Fox news so it must be true?

I am afraid what seems reasonable to one is not going to always seem reasonable to another. It all depends on your intellectual development. Many things seem irrational to those who have accepted the TV sound bite to form their world. Older people are usually more affected by it as for some it can be disconcerting to stumble onto obviously ridiculous things they held to be true for a very long time.

We get back to gnosis, a sort of intellectual knowing or conscience if you will involving just feeling a certain concept is correct. I suspect it is why the gospel of Thomas was edited out of the bible, it dealt with this.

Those who represent an ideal beyond the comprehension of the masses must face the persecution of the unthinking multitude who are without the divine idealism which inspires progress and those rational faculties which unerringly sift truth from falsehood." -Manly Palmer Hall

You got me Doc

I spent all those years in graduate school because I hated being surrounded by intellectuals. What gave me away? My logical presentation of arguments or my critical analysis of your theories?

In case you missed the sarcasm, I not only like being around intellectuals, but like to think of myself as one. Which is why I so dislike PHONY intellectuals. And I don’t look down my nose at everyone outside academia or other intellectual circles.

Doc, sometimes I can’t believe you are this delusional and muddled. I have a half-formed mini conspiracy theory of my own that you are just putting on an act to parody the real conspiracy nuts out there. If so, I salute you sir, you are a true genius. There, now feel free to use that out of context.

As an aside, that’s a nice quote. I’m fond of a similar one:

“When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.” – Jonathan Swift.

But that doesn’t make every nut job right.

Nope

Can’t stand those guys. I don’t watch Fox News. I tried once, it seemed only fair to not condemn them if I hadn’t actually seen them. Now I feel completely vindicated about condemning them.

Regarding my opinion of you, I don’t dislike you, but I do disagree with you most of the time and I do dislike it when you condescend to everyone. There are a lot of smart people here and you have no clue who they are or what they are about. I’m not trying to be abrasive or evasive, although sometimes I am trying to be funny.

Regarding your sources, I have actually followed your links on multiple occasions (again, I try to be fair), and a (admittedly casual) reading of the stories made it seem pretty obvious to me that they were pandering to people interested in conspiracies. And they seemed to draw conclusions on that basis rather than simply stating facts.

I’ll admit I haven’t researched most of the topics that concern you in any detail as I usually don’t have this much free time, but for the links you have posted I have always been able to easily find another source that contradicted your conclusions. Case in point, for the MS/Merck thing, I gave you this link which you either didn’t read or didn’t find compelling. Fair enough.

I just have to wonder if you apply ANY skepticism to any conspiracy theory or if you just believe them all? Doesn’t that get tiresome?

If anyone cares

A few friends and I always put up a Best Of… list for songs and albums every year. Figured I’d post mine here in case anyone wants to indulge, with some caveats:

A) You need to have Spotify, as it is a Spotify list
2) The list is not for everyone, as I tend to lean towards more indie stuff, but it’s broad enough for most people
D) Enjoy

Somewhere beyond the barricade, is there a world you long to see?

Can you summarize for me since I don’t have a facebook (i’m that guy)? I’m a music snob and am always down to compare and share. I’ve been heavy into indie and chill electronic stuff lately but I’ll go ahead and shoot you a list of some of favorites lately in no particular order…

A) Gary Clark Jr. “Bright Lights”-Awesome blues cat from Austin,
2) Toro Y Moi “Underneath The Pine”
D) The Roots “Undun”

And some of my favorites that didn’t necassarily come out this year…

Local Natives, The Whitest Boy Alive, Minus The Bear, Mt St Helens Vietnam Band, and Band of Horses.

by bobbysura on Feb 15, 2012 10:42 PM EST up reply actions

If you'd like, hit up my email and I'll send you a list of the tracks

As far as everything else, Gary Clark is incredible (and is definitely on the Best Of list) and I’m hoping to get a chance to see him when I visit some friends in Austin later this year. Toro Y Moi is a group I’m still growing into. I tend to lean more of the less experimental electro-pop, i.e. Cut Copy and the like. The Roots are one of my favorite groups, but that album really seemed a step down from their previous stuff.

Everything else you listed is also fantastic, but Local Natives really takes the cake out of that group.

Not sure if there is some other point your are trying to make here

Monsanto is pushing GMO because the can control the production, having patented the seeds (which I think is bullish*t). Down to the fact that if GMO crops cross-pollinate with adjacent non GMO crops the next door farmer is f*cked because he won’t be able to sell his crops. Bad patent law, but no sign of conspiracy mentioned.

That rabbit hole gets deeper the more you look down it

There are lots of links by farmers complaining their hogs become sterile after feeding them GMO corn. There is a link between GMO corn and sterility. Why are we not hearing about this from the mainstream media.

You may not be aware of this but John Holdren current science advisor wrote a book in 1972 indicating he felt the U.S. government should have the right to sterilze people, using vaccine, drugs in the water supply etc. His theory was we need to reduce the world’s population by 90% and we have little time left. Now maybe he has changed his views, maybe not but this book is an established fact. If you don’t believe it google it while you can, there is a reason that draconian legislation is being introduced to severely restrict the net.

You mentioned you don’t have time to read alot, I do and I read alot. One of my favorite sites is from Scotland.

It does however carry retired national security agent Wayne Madsen, former Reagan official Paul Craig Roberts, and Charley Reese, a former newspaper reporter with the Orlando Sentinel. I had lunch with him once on behalf of the union, nice guy and very intelligent. One of my favorites is a character called the Les Visible, the dog poet, who has absolutely no university academic training but has managed to have millions of hits using only a google blog. No I don’t believe everything written over there, some of it is also tripe but as in everything, discretion is advised. There is a vast array of writers there however covering Europe, the U.S., Israel, Greece, Canda etc. Some of the coverage of what is happening in Greece is spectacular. There have been last I saw, 150 buildings burned, many banks and Starbucks cafes in the anti-banking riots. It looks like Greece is going to default.

Long term

Deciding what is true and what is not can lead to much debate. I personally believe that truth is light. There are many masters who said the same. Jesus I believe said I am the truth and the light. Same with Krishna and in Vedic thought, we have the Rishis. Nobody knows how far back in time they go. Their pronouncements also were that truth has always been here and always will be here. It is contained in light and sound forms called the Shruti.

So what we may refer to as truth can be difficult and much more complex than the right length. I suppose we could say that everyone has their own view of reality which is a composite of all they have experienced and each is probably doing the best they can unless they are a psychopath, those with part of the frontal lobe missing and cannot experience empathy. Sott.net has a good expose on this but that is a subject for another day.

So when I leave a link I am not saying it is the end all and be all, simply that here is something I have seen in many places and have incorporated it into my view which is constantly changing.

What constituted the truth for Native Americans for instance was much different than those held by the pilgrims. The Native Americans viewed the natural world and the creator as sacred, something that if not despoiled would provide all they need forever. the Pilgrims on the other hand viewed it as something that could be cut up into lots and sold.

I just finished reading John Holdren’s book (like I said, I try to be fair) and I am now convinced that you did not. It is over 1,000 pages of some of the driest material ever, mostly detailing every conceivable process of interest to ecology. And by that I mean the technical definition of the study of population dynamics with respect to environment, not the vernacular “anything that doesn’t come from nature is bad” sense.

I had to skim through the first fifteen chapters or so as 99% of the book is devoted to explaining the science of how population and the use of resources affects and is affected by the environment. Yes, he advocates (convincingly) that uncontrolled population growth is a BAD thing. Pretty hard to argue against that. But he only devotes about two pages to the things you listed, and then in the context of “these are things other people have suggested and MIGHT be done if the shit really hits the fan.” He does not advocate them. He actually advocates providing education and voluntary access to the contraception, abortion, and sterilization (vasectomies, etc.) as a means of avoiding the worst.

And yes, he does advocate reduction in population, but not by 90% and not by increasing death rate, but reducing natality (birth) rate (again, voluntarily through education and access). Interestingly, a big part of the argument made in that book is that the current inequity between the flow of resources from developed countries (DC) to lesser developed countries (LDC) is both unethical and unsustainable. The solution he proposes involves massive aid from DC to LDC to not only increase their productivity but to help them develop reasonable population control policies (providing access to voluntary means, NOT EUGENICS). This is a far cry from the image of Bill Gates killing African kids.

I’m sorry but I can only conclude that you did not read this book yourself, but rather listened to what other people had to say about it. If you would like to read it, here is a link. But I warn you, it’s a snoozer.

Oh, and I never said I don’t have time to read, I read all the time. I just don’t read most of the things you read.

I have to say I am impressed with degrees in engineering and math, it was never my forte. In fact I was lucky to escape calculus theory with a D. I came to the conclusion early on the mathematic professor is trying to discover what the philosopher already knows, all life is a circle. What I mean by this is I have seen math instructors eat chalk and go all around the black boards proving that certain equations all lead back to zero.

The Native Americans saw it this way in the sense that they reasoned the mouth, eyes, nostrils, orifices, earth, moon, solar system, universe were all circles. So they reasoned God must love circles. Sometimes it very simple, at least it seems that way to me.

The philosopher already instinctively knows what the math professor is trying to prove.

Since you are an engineer

I have always wondered about the pyramids. Most engineers indicate we still to this day do not have the technology to build anything of this magnitude. The Giza complex even seems to line up with various star groupings. Do you have any insight on this?

Doc

Regarding the pyramids, I am trained as an electrical engineer and find mechanical engineering barely palatable and civil engineering (which is probably most applicable to your question) unbearably dull, so I probably don’t have the best answers for you. Having said that, I have never heard anyone I respected claim that we could not now reproduce the pyramids. The discussion always seems to center around how amazing it is that the ancients could have built them with the technology of the time. But there have been numerous experiments done with modern craftsmen reproducing some of the work using ancient tools (obviously on a much smaller scale). Also, there is a logical progression in sophistication and size from the earliest pyramids to the masterpieces at Giza, so I don’t think there is a lot of mystery left here. Still some of the greatest accomplishments ever, no doubt.

And yes, the Great Pyramid is aligned (North/South, I think) and the strange offset layout of the pyramids at Giza is now believed to be deliberate to mimic the star pattern of the belt in the constellation Orion.

I don’t know much about the Dresden Codex except that I thought it was mostly a sophisticated almanac with very advanced astronomical tables. Not sure if it contains any philosophical content at all, but maybe.

I’m afraid at this point I have bored everyone else on this thread to death, so respectfully I won’t be responding in detail or depth to anymore of your posts, with the exception of a snide comment or two for humorous effect. Try not to take them personally.

Cheers

Feel free and no offense taken, enjoyed the conversation. I can assure you however the pyramids could not be duplicated with today’s technology. Same goes for the temple of Jupiter in Lebannon. The granite columns are so big there is modern crane capable of lifting them and the top of a granite mountain is sheared off with such precision you could lay a level on it.

http://www.world-mysteries.com/gw_mgray5.htm

the best steels today have a hardness of only 5.5 and thus are inefficient for cutting granite. Some of the red granite blocks in the pyramid weigh 50 tons. The pyramids are still an enigma.

We didn't win because of a lucky shot or good bounces though.

Coach Ham really had them ready for end of game pressure situations. Probably my favorite play of the game (besides the Snaer 3) was at about the 5 minute mark of the second quarter. We were struggling horribly and coach wanted the PG that was in at the time to go for a steal or foul instead of using a timeout. I can’t remember which PG it was, but he tried five or six times for a steal and was playing some nasty D before finally fouling. It would have been easy for him to just slap the ball handler on the arm and get to the sidelines, but that’s the mindset coach Hamilton brings to the team. I can see it in them and I’ve only been a casual follower for a little over two years now. DO NOT fire coach Ham.

by RobbSeminole on Feb 21, 2012 3:25 AM EST reply actions

did you see the correction?

According to the bill currently written, there are 14 criteria and the school has to meet 11 of them to set their own tuition. UF meets all 14 (gee, wonder why) and FSU meets 12. Even if FSU can participate I think it’s a pretty lousy law. Why do two schools get to set their own tuition but the rest of the state has to sit around waiting on the government? If anything, each school’s BOT should be able to set tuition, with the state having a fixed subsidy per credit hour that doesn’t change (right now, it’s the difference between out of state and in-state tuition, I assume). A couple of my professors long lamented that the Florida university system in general suffered from underfunding as a result of under-market tuition, and it’s a wonder the education is as good as it is. It’s too bad we can’t be all cool like Yale with $20B in endowment and don’t even have to charge tuition anymore.

Seems to be a new method that accounts for yards gained per completion and for the effectiveness of a QB to gain yards via his legs.

I guess I wish somehow there can be data put in in regards to pass protection somehow

A QB can’t be fully effective without his line, and as you look at the stats, how many of the lower ranking guys had a poor/incomplete o-line (like our o-line) and how many were just plain rubbish?

So many factors we don’t know, that maybe there’s no way to account for them when building a complete rating for QBs. The strength of the defense also matters, as you need to know if a QB is constantly playing catchup or if he can relax into a rhythm and just pass the ball knowing his defense will keep the other team at bay. Maybe that one is a bit too far….

by NoleCC on Feb 21, 2012 11:39 AM EST up reply actions

I don't think it's possible without the coach's playbook.

And even then, would be an absolutely monumental task.

You would have to know exactly how long each play was designed to be for, first of all. IE: 3 second or 7 second release then see if in fact it was released by then or went over/under.

This would take a play by play break-down on every offensive performance by every team in division 1 football.

DKN does a great job of breaking down the play by plays here for TN, but even his information doesn’t factor in play time for actual vs. intended.

I guess you could take a rough guess depending on play type

But it would still have a variance based on if the coach of the team you are compiling the stats for runs a different timing on an “out post” or something like that.

You could use a confidence interval or something to be reasonably sure of the data.

DKN is going to be stoked that you volunteered! :)

So I just got back from having my SUV cleaned at one of those part hand and part semi-automatic car washes.

I asked the guy vacuuming the front floors if he would please vacuum the floor between the second and third row of seats because the last time I was there they didn’t do it.

After he finished the front he vacuumed the third row floor as I askied. Then he started shutting the door and I asked him to please not forget to vac the second row DUH!
(OK, I didn’t say DUH! but I thought it to myself. I mean just because I asked him to vac between the second row and third row did not mean I didn’t want the floor between the first row and second row vacuumed, DUH!)

Anyway, he finishes that and starts to get in the drivers seat and I laughingly told him please not to forgot the back part through the back lift gate. He said that he didn’t know I wanted that done, and then he proceeded to open the back lift gate and vac the back section.

Then as he was getting in my car to move it forward, he asked if I was a Seminole (he saw the FSU tag when he opened up the back to vac).

I replied yeah.

Then as soon as I finished saying yeah, immediately he blurts out “Well you know it’s all about the U down here. We’ve won 5 national championships and you only won two,” as he flashes the U with his hands at me.

I was about to come back with something snappy like “Yeah but we’ve won the last two,” but I then thought, why bother.

Instead I replied “When you’re right, you’re right. Oh and please make sure you pre-spray my rims to get the brake dust off because I paid for that package.”

I usually put a $5 tip in the tip box because 5 people usually handle your car at one point or another during the process, but today I purposely put in $6 hoping the Cane gets the extra buck for making me laugh so hard.

I know this sounds like one of those jokes about a gator working the fast food window at McDonald’s, but I swear this just happened to me this afternoon, true story.

Proper responses:

“5 rings, huh? What’s that, one ring for each time I had to remind you how to do your job?”

“It is all about the U, as in U better not forgot to spray that new car scent after you clean the windows.”

Somewhere beyond the barricade, is there a world you long to see?

Young Alumni Status

Last year when i joined the FSU boosters I was still considered young alumni, I graduated in December of 09. Is it valid for 2 seasons or am I on to full membership price? Maybe it’s 5 years similar to the alumni association? Anyone have any knowledge of this?

CC I saw that

I saw that and that’s what I did last year, I opted out of the Young Alumni section and just got a Warrior level membership and a pair of tickets. My question is am I done? Am I to pay full price next year or in two years? Not that I mind, but if it were to stay at half price, I would seriously consider moving up a level.

That’s what I was pointing to cmk… the page says “This program is available to anyone receiving an undergraduate degree from Florida State University in 2008 or after.” It would appear that you are not done, but you can always call the Boosters at 850-644-3484.

Thanks for the help

I’ve asked my dad and he’s clueless about the cutoff too… I’m happy for the incentive, but after a few years of half price, you’d think they’d want full price? Half price tickets are nice too…

Help with obtaining a W2

My wife’s former employer still has not given her the 2011 W2, that was due to be mailed by 1/31. It is now 2/23, is there any legal recourse we can take to get this besides calling the IRS?

by MISNole on Feb 23, 2012 10:14 AM EST reply actions

W-2

You can file a return with a subsitute W-2, if you have the totals, etc. However, it usually is best to call the bookkeeper and get the information.

by rspknole1 on Feb 23, 2012 2:08 PM EST up reply actions

Not worth the trouble really. If the employer filed the W-2’s, the IRS should have a report of wages filed.

Chris Singleton was at the game yesterday.

Glad to see him back on campus supporting our favorite team. Guy is still playing at an elite level on defense for the Wizards, though he get’s a -1 for missing a wide open transition dunk a couple weeks ago.

Man, I hate to hear you’re going through that. My nephew (lives with me) recently broke his leg and has been going through excruciating pain since, both pre and post surgery. Take it one, er, step at a time. Do what they tell you to do, too.

Luckily, it wasn’t a solid break. Just a big crack. Apparently, I am built like a Mack truck. Follow up in two weeks, and hopefully PT soon after. I never listen to orders. I know my limits, though. I need to get back in fighting shape.

TN site question

Does Bud/mods control the “recent posts” sidebar or is it an SBN coding thing? Seems to be bugging a little, currently has some random stories from a week ago, not the most recent front page stuff like it used to.

It’s not just on this site though, so I doubt they can fix it without the help of SBNation tech guys.

Its based off how many recs the post gets. 5 or more and it gets pinned to the sidebar for a week or two I believe.

Not the fanposts sidebar,

the front page posts sidebar. They used to be in most recent order, now they’re just stories from whenever.
