Tyrell Lyons, a linebacker/safety prospect out of Jacksonville (Fla.) First Coast High School, has committed to the Florida State Seminoles. Lyons is 6'2" and 218 pounds. He holds additional offers from Miami, Clemson, Mississippi and North Carolina. Lyons has only been evaluated by one service to this point, 247sports, which gave him a rating of three stars.
Lyons is not sure what position he will play for Florida State, as he told ESPN:
"Even the coaches aren't really sure what they want me to play because I'm so versatile," Lyons said. "I have the size of linebacker and I hit like a safety but I can also cover the field well."
Whether he can play safety for Florida State largely depends on how much he continues to grow. He is an excellent athlete with very good size. Lyons is the type of kid a school will want to get on campus and then further evaluate his skill-set.
Lyons is originally from Miami. He is the seventh First Coast player to commit to Florida State in the last five years.
Lyons is Florida State's sixth commitment of the 2013 class.
