Jameis Winston
Jameis Winston, the top dual-threat quarterback recruit in the country, has signed with Florida State. Winston had been committed to Florida State since early August, but did not sign on National Signing Day because of his participation in an all-star game held in Texas. Winston wanted to sign with his friends and family present, and elected to wait until he returned to his home state of Alabama to do so. Winston plays for Hueytown (Al.) High School.
In addition to his offer from Florida State, the 6'4", 190 pound Winston held offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida and Stanford. He gave consideration to Alabama and Stanford, but reaffirmed his decision to sign with Florida State Wednesday during an interview on ESPNU. After being committed for six months and reiterating his intention on national television, Winston signed with the 'Noles Friday.
Winston is a consensus five-star recruit. With a live arm and excellent athleticism, he is rated as the top dual-threat quarterback in the country. Winston is also an excellent baseball prospect as a pitcher and outfielder. Florida State will need to fight off the Major League Baseball draft this summer to get Winston to Tallahassee.
