Cool.
I hope this works out for him; I wish him the best.
Great great great
Human being and representative for FSU but as a football player he was less than average. And it really pains me to say it, but honestly he was ESPN’s number 1 player and he never did anything on the field to ever warrant it at FSU. Once again though great person and love that he is a Nole!

I think you mean well, and Im not trying to be malicious at all, but when you say he was a less than average player I think you show you don’t really know what you’re talking about.

Agreed.
He didn’t have a lot of highlight plays, but he was a solid tackler and had a nose for the ball.

Less than average is absurd
but wojcianole’s point on him not performing to his top rating is not off base. Objectively, he did not make nearly the impact that an espn #1 overall should have made. I would consider him a bust of a recruit based off his status in high school. I always wanted him to breakout, but it was always solid, average play. I do wish him well and hopefully he can stick with the steelers.

well
he played about as good as anybody else would have, considering he was depending on
Budd Thacker to stop the run.

He didn't play corner though

He’s saying that in Andrew’s defensive scheme, the SS basically played man coverage on receivers.

Are we talking about the same Myron Rolle?
Wasn’t he a pretty decent safety for the ‘Noles? He definitely wasn’t a CB.
My first bit of 'Noles gear was a Zubaz hat... man, I wish I still had that hideous hat...
I recall him playing mostly man coverage on most plays
Although, I fear someone is going to pull out some statistic that says he only played like 20% man to man :(
Depending on what defense the offense dictated...
Ed Reed sometimes mans up on a receiver, but he’s never referred to as the best shutdown corner in the league. It’s a little more than semantics, but I’m sure we can all agree that he was a good Nole.

he wasnt a true safety
he played rover, wich is a position that die after he went to england, so he was kind of a CB

more of a SS/LB hybrid than a CB
"I guess they have a reputation of being more of a tricky team and not being tough. You hit ‘em in the mouth, and they don’t like it. Other teams that have beat them just hit them in the mouth, so that’s what we started out with.’’ - Nick Moody
Look at the bigger picture.
This is the kind of guy you want your kids to grow up watching, the kind of role model that is extremely difficult to find in this day and age. May not have been the best football player to have ever seen the field, but he is a five star in every aspect of his life.
Roses are red, Violets are blue, If it wears orange, Kill it.
Agree 100%
Can’t we just be happy a former Nole is getting a shot in the NFL? Instead of criticizing him for being a “less than average” football player, let’s credit him for being a great representative of Florida State University.
Rolle might be the most underated player to play for FSU in 2 decades
The guy started 3 years and was always dependable, playing a position under Mickey that wasn’t very galmourus at times. He was never Elite and never lived up to his lofty HS ranking and people can’t seem to get past that even though he was very productive for 3 years.
He did alot more than “5 star” bust and number 1 overall safety Yohance Buchannon who did absolutely nothing here but get abused on the field and kick off the team for being a A-hole.
Rolle’s career IMO equaled that of fellow 5 star safety Jermome Carter who was just as highly regared and maybe even more so than Rolle by recruitniks, He just didn’t have the national press Rolle had because he wasn’t a 4.0 student and aspiring doctor. But coming out of Columbia Carter was being compared to guys like Derrick Brooks by the recruting experts in the Southeast and though solid in his own right never came close to living up to those expectations.
Hell at one time alot of people were dissapointed with Hope’s career here because he was never as flashy as Derrick Gibson and guys like Roy Williams and Ed Reed were getting all the accolades around that time. And Hope too was the #1 safety in the country coming out of HS, I just think the position under Andrews did’t allow for alot of freelancing because of the run responsibilities. Smart guys like Hope and Rolle who stayed disipline get undervauled while guys like Gibson who broke containment to make alot of plays but also got beat alot get inflated.
I'll never forget when Rolle
was brought into Maryland’s stadium after his Rhodes Scholarship interview. Even the Terp fans were cheering him.

He is just going to be taken out back and shot again
so much for getting another shot
Damn....some of you guys are hating for no reason.....it's always good to see a Nole getting a shot to stay in the league....
It’s not only good for the player, it’s good for the program too…who wouldn’t want their kid to go to a school that has produced a Rhodes scholar and NFL caliber athlete….that can do more for FSU than any tackle or int that Rolle could’ve made….I don’t see UM, the Gators, or even Stanford having a Rhodes scholar-athlete playing football…..and that’s something we can lay claim to and be proud of….
