Serious Love: Nole up to #15 in AP Hoops poll.
Also up to #17 in the Coaches' Poll.
One wonders how long its been since FSU has been as high as #15 in the AP poll. Someone find out.
I also noticed that the folks at ESPN.com, in their infinite wisdom, put the Noles #2 in their ACC Power Rankings, a slot below UNC. Who petulantly fled our court before a 33-point beatdown was over. Makes sense.

Power Rankings are BS
Right after we beat Duke, they still had us there and they claimed it was because we lost to Clemson. Fast forward two weeks and we have won 7 in a row and we still don’t get that top slot. They put UNC up there to help their already hurt pride from when they said UNC will sweep through the ACC. Others said it’s because UNC had a more impressive win this past week. I’m pretty sure we just beat a ranked team while UNC beat a 13-8 (at the time) Maryland.
Anyways, I’m sick and shouldn’t get my blood boiling like this. Also noted we are a projected 5th seed for the tourney!
Power Rankings are definitely b.s. Still, you'd think there'd be method in the madness.
I don’t get the Bachelor either, but at least they have A Process.
I saw that #5 seed as well. The dreaded #5 seed. We need to win our way outta that trouble.

well, I was mostly being jokey about it, because, as Battaglia pointed out, power rankings
are b.s anyway. Basically sh*ts and giggles arguments.
But, my impression was that power rankings were weighted towards recent performance rather than just the overall record. Otherwise, you could just throw the actual standings up there.

UNC probably should be ahead of us, though, by most of the reasonable methods to compare teams
They’ve won 14 of their last 15, while we’re jumping for joy over a 7 game win streak. Their three losses are to ranked teams (1 point loss to Kentucky, FSU, UNLV), while three of our losses are to unranked teams (Uconn, Princeton, Clemson).
UNC should be above us in the ranking.
Duke, on the other hand, probably shouldn’t if they lose to UNC next
where does us beating them by 33 on national television rank in your 'reasonable methods to compare teams' scale?
you know, the head-to-head comparison…
Very high if it's a single elimination tournament
About 1/22nd of our overall performance if we’re judging the season-based rankings on season performance.
Also note that they are CONFERENCE Power Rankings
It makes sense to be behind UNC and 15 other schools in the power rankings. But in CONFERENCE, only your conference shedule should be taken into account. 7-1, beating all the other top teams, and sharing 1st place is reason enough to be #1 in the power rankings. Plus, look who has had the toughest conference schedule and how they faired. I’m definitely not arguing we should be higher in the polls; just the conference power rankings.
They only played once
Anything can happen in one game, which is why you don’t over interpret one game. Clemson can beat FSU by 20, but that doesn’t mean Clemson is 20 points better than FSU. The same as FSU is not 30 points better than UNC (and likely wouldn’t even be favored in a rematch). We can lose a Princeton team that is barely above .500, but that doesnt mean Princeton is better than us. The full schedule ought to be used to judge a team relative to another.
In favor of UNC: Isn’t losing to us by 30 more excusable than losing by 20 to CU because we’re better than CU?
In favor of FSU: We have better wins. UNC can’t play itself and hasn’t played Duke yet. I’ll vote us for number 1 if Duke wins against UNC tomorrow, and I maintain UNC should be #1 if UNC wins.

im not sure i agree w/ your rubric -
are you arguing that our victory at cameron or by 33 over the heels is just as i significant as a win over charleston southern?
i tend to think that if youre comparing teams a head-to-head is a better comparison and should count more than 1/22…
one thing's for sure: the fact that, halfway through the conference schedule, the
arguement is down to whether or not FSU should be #1 or #2 in the ACC power rankings should be a cause for a minor celebration. With liquor. Hard liquor.

If we keep winning?
If wee keep winning and dump say 2 more games? Where does that seed us? still 5 any chance we see say a 3 seed. And (hypothetical) if we win the ACC tourney where do we land?
FSU, home of the Bandit! Enough said!
As long as we are seeded higher than, and in a better bracket
than that school down the road, I’m happy.
I hope we're seeded in the same bracket as them
We’ve got a great shot to beat them if we get a rematch. They played us when the entire team was in disarray.

yes, that would be nice.
however, may I make a suggestion we don’t end up in the same bracket as Kentucky? Yikes.

Florida is hot right now
I’d much rather play Duke or UNC again. UF has been great at what we force teams to do to beat us, hit lots of threes. UF is averaging double digit threes per game.
