Football Recruiting Performance
Not go to do any posting for awhile, but I did think this merited a Fanshot for those who hadn't seen it. A look at what matters: Coaching vs. Recruiting

Hahaha.
Yes I did.
Sorry Norcal.
What I meant to say is, since the football season has finally ramped down and now we are in the heart and soul of our basketball bread basket. FSU can finally take a break to help out with our minor league sport again in the Fall.

No, I couldn't disagre more.
SHe needs to get her priorities straight. The ‘Noles were here before the baby, and will still be after the baby leaves for college, probably UF. She’ll wish then she hadn’t devoted her TN time to teh little Gator. (!)

Correlation is not the same as causation
The authors of the piece start out with a mistake: they assume that correlation implies causation, as in “more highly rated players increase attendance”. They even go so far as to say, “For every 4-star recruit on a team, attendance will increase by 710 fans. For every 5-star recruit on a team, attendance will increase by 885 fans.” That’s just silly and a poor use of statistics.
Isn’t is just as likely that strong attendance influences highly rated players to choose a school over others, or more likely still, that both attendance and the number of highly rated players are influenced by all the things that go into a strong program, including good coaches, etc. The authors need to take a statistics class.

Is the poster known as FSU actually Terry Saban? And why does TN not want you to know?
what do you think a lot of
social science research is? :)
