The Noles returned to the friendly confines of JoAnne Graf Field and returned to their winning ways. After a long flight home from Hawaii, the Noles returned to Tallahassee and let out some frustration on N.C. State over the weekend. FSU swept the Wolfpack (7-1, 8-0, 6-0).
Personal notes after the jump >>>------|>
I was able to check out the bulk of Lacey Waldrop's start on Saturday in Game 1. The Noles looked good overall!
A) Whatcha gonna do when Waldropmania runs wild on you? Lacey Waldrop picked up her team leading 9th win of the season.
2) Jessica Nori closed out Game 1 and seemed to have some excellent power behind her pitches. It's the first time I've seen her pitch in 2012 and I was surprised by her velocity, so either I don't remember last year very well or she worked hard during the off season and it shows.
Dinich) I feel like I don't mention Monica Perry nearly enough. She's been the workhorse of the pitching staff and again threw excellent games all weekend. She leads the team with 83K's / 14BB, well above Waldrop's 50K / 17BB ratio.
IV) I noticed that Coach Alameda finally slid Maddie O'Brien down in the order a bit. Mallory Borden is picking up the slack in the 3rd spot. O'Brien continues to get on base via BB, so I'm still of the opinion that the hits will start to fall (there are already some signs of life). O'Brien also has a heck of an arm over at SS.
Bananas) Tiffani Brown is fast. That is all.
The Noles take on Chattanooga on Tuesday night and then head to the USF Under Armour Classic this weekend in Tampa. I'm highly interested to see how they play away from Tallahassee. The competition is not Hawaii-caliber, but the Noles need to learn to take their home success with them on the road.
Rankings come out on Tuesday. The Noles were #22 in both poll last week.
Go Noles!
