Question about NCAA Football going to playoff system.

I have to do a proposal paper for school and part of it is to get people's opinions on my topic. My proposal is below:

Proposal: I believe a system should be in place to have a NCAA playoff of the top eight college teams at the end of the year . This system would take the top eight teams in college football and put them in a head to head tournament against each other. Just like in the NFL the team that may have had a slight slip up at the beginning of the year and lost one game could go on and win the whole tournament. This system should not replace the current Bowl Championship Series (BCS) but add to it. The tournament would be a total of two rounds in consecutive weeks with the final game (championship) played after a week of rest. I do not believe that the NCAA would suffer because the games would be picked up by major marketers and played on big channels like CBS, NBC and ESPN.

Justification: The benefits of having a playoff system shows who the true champion is and not one that is picked by coaches and a computer. The games would start a week or two after the regular season and end in the beginning of January when the normal BCS games are played. Instead of having a playoff system another option is to choose the two teams that are to appear in the BCS Championship game after all the other bowl games have been played. This way the top teams in their respective conference can be picked to play. Some people think that having a playoff system takes away from the games played throughout the season. I believe it only makes the team that much more apt to win to get into that top 8 seed. Another argument is that current bowl games require both teams to travel and placing a playoff system will favor the team that does not have to.

Please let me know your opinions on this matter. Thanks.
