"We've had so many college coaches on campus," Brewster coach Jason Smith said. "And when all the coaches came, I'd bet eight out of 10 would ask about Aaron. They'd say, 'The kid going to Florida State is the real deal.' " Smith said the list of coaches who inquired about Thomas, a 6-foot-4, 195-pounder who can play guard or small forward, included Kentucky's John Calipari, Duke's Mike Krzyzewski and North Carolina's Roy Williams. But the interest was not mutual. "Aaron made it very well known that he was firmly committed to Florida State," Smith said.
