Likely start time for FSU/Clemson

According to the ESPN.com "way too early" Top 25 Poll by Mark Schlabach, Florida State should enter into the pre-season polls ranked 7th. Since (A) its the only poll we have handy to use and (B) ESPN pretty much owns the ACC anyway, we'll use it.

On Saturday, September 22nd, the 16th ranked Clemson Tigers travel to Doak Campbell Stadium to take on the 7th ranked Noles. Here is the other match-up between two (thus far) top 25 teams scheduled on the same day.

(6) Oklahoma hosts (18) Kansas State

Of note, (1) LSU travels to Auburn, who (based on their opening week game vs Clemson in Atlanta) may or may not be ranked. A Clemson loss here would hurt.

And Michigan travels to Notre Dame, but as it is a home game for the Irish, the game will air on NBC, not ESPN.

Based on this information, there is probably a better than 75 percent chance that FSU and Clemson will get a prime time start, and better than 50 percent chance that it is a stand-alone nationally broadcast game. The variable, of course, being Clemson and Auburn in Atlanta. If Clemson were to win that game, I would give us a better than 75 percent chance to host College Gameday, as well.

It was slightly shocking to see that a majority of teams listed in the above Top 25 either play a BYE week, or host "cupcake" OOC games.
