Apparently FSU is getting a Mascot, named Cimarron. A "My Little Pony" Mascot. Do they want us to be the laughing stocks of the NCAA? This must come to an end before it starts. This is ridiculous and makes me an alumnus feel embarrassed! Although this Mascot will not be at football games it is still a sad day for FSU Sports to have this as our Mascot. Just imagine at a Basketball Game or Baseball Game seeing this guy walking around, now think about when FSU will send our Mascot to other schools to represent FSU SPORTS.
There are already newspaper articles written about our new mascot, even the Tallahassee Democrat has a piece mocking it. They mostly state how Cimarron is an incarnation of a former mascot that Florida State once had. Honestly, I did not remember this until I read the article and someone in our forum pointed it out to me.
Now on the other side of things I do understand that this is a marketing gimmick for the kid's toys and t-shirts, but keep it in house. He does not need to be the Mascot but more of a selling Gimmick that stays in the bookstore. Unfortunately, Cimarron will sell because he is "New" so he is here to stay and that means money is coming in and there is nothing that the alumni can really do about it.
So for now on every time we go to Google to find an image of Chief Osceola there will be a picture of Cimarron right next to him reminding us of the time FSU picked the "My Little Pony" marketing Gimmick over Tradition.
Below is the picture of our future Mascot, how do you guys feel?
