I put together the F/+ ranks for the possible new-look Big12 to see how FSU and Clemson fit in their rumored new conference:
Quick notes and thoughts:
Sorted by 2009-2011 average (cherry-picking or more accurate picture? - you choose)
Top-3 ranks in a year are highlighted
OU and Texas are obviously the top dogs (Texas' averages were ruined by their hilariously disastrous 2010 season), but TCU and WVU are high-quality additions.
FSU, as we know, has been trending very well, but Okie State's rise as been more dramatic. Combine those trends with Texas' inevitable return to the elite, TCU's continued excellence, WVU and Clemson staying strong and you have 7 quality teams in this, as of now, mythical conference. We'll see how Baylor does post-RG3 before projecting them (hint: not well).
Here's a visual on how FSU and Clemson stack up against the current members, the Old-10 (highest = best):
In case you were wondering, FSU will be able to compete in the New12. With a little more money, sane scheduling, and no Ron Cherry we have a good chance to win it on an acceptably regular basis.
