I know there has been, and probably will continue to be, nonstop discussion about whether or not Florida State will stay in the ACC. I know there are plenty of folks who are fed up with the conference. I also know that there are some folks who would prefer that FSU stay in the ACC but think that it is not a viable option.
Some of the decisions the ACC has made that I am frustrated with (and for the record, I'm a Terps fan) are things I have heard others complain about as well ... the decision to not pursue an ACC television network, the decision to move to a nine-game football schedule, the decision to put almost all of the "neutral site" conference championships in the state of North Carolina. There are others too, but despite what some think, not everything in the conference is about hoops. The additions of VT, BC and Miami were certainly not about improving basketball. While some management decisions have been good, others have not.
I think that if the ACC reverses some decisions it has made and moves forward aggressively, it can strengthen the conference, but the possibility of a strong conference would obviously be crippled if FSU and Clemson (and perhaps additional schools) left the ACC. Personally, I'm not convinced Swofford is the right guy for the job, and would prefer to see someone else in charge.
What I'd like to know is what you would like to see happen that would make you happy (or at least willing) to keep Florida State in the ACC. I've listed "more money" by itself as an option (and attached a possible ACC television network to that option) and also listed several "more money and X" options, since there are several topics I've heard repeatedly in discussions. Money seems to be the dominant issue, but there are other concerns as well.
If you really think that regardless of what the ACC did - even if, for example, it snagged a $35 million per school per year TV contract - that you'd prefer FSU be elsewhere, then go ahead and check the last option. If not, what would make you want to see FSU stay in the ACC?
