The story of the game was the career outing that Scott Sitz gave the Noles in this elimination game. He cruised through the first five innings and then loaded the bases in the 6th only to work out of it by completely baffling UCLA hitters with a wicked slider. Scantling did a great job of bridging the gap to Benincasa who shut down the Bruins in order for the save. Florida State’s extremely disciplined lineup was constantly on display as they made UCLA pitchers labor all night. The Noles quest for an elusive College World Series title continues as they need to beat Arizona twice in row starting Thursday night.
