Christian Morgan, a top tight end recruit out of Plano (Texas), committed to Florida State Tuesday evening over the Baylor Bears and the Arkansas Razorbacks.

"It just felt more like home, even than some of the places that were closer," Morgan told SB Nation. "I felt comfortable around the coaches and the players and the city. It was right for me."

Morgan profiles as a balanced or blocking tight end. Already huge as a rising senior (6'5 250), Morgan may show up at 260 pounds come January, as he will graduate high school early and enroll for the spring semester.

He has the potential to provide an instant impact with his blocking. Some initially saw Morgan as a tackle prospect, but the common thread of all the teams recruiting him is that they all want him as a tight end. With more and more defenses using bigger defensive ends, there is a place for jumbo tight ends in the college game. A 230-pound tight end simply won't get the job done against a 270-pound 6-technique end. His blocking will remind FSU fans of Caz Puirowski, who really helped Florida State in the run game with his blocking from the tight end position. However, Morgan has better agility than Piurowski, because he is 2-3" shorter.

Morgan can also catch the ball, obviously, and we've long said that Jimbo Fisher and company want to play more two-tight end sets. This will allow FSU to do just that.

Morgan's commitment and early enrollment also likely means that, if FSU wants, it can move Dan Hicks back to defense if the numbers dictate such a move.

Morgan is a smart kid, has a lot of potential, and from all indications works hard at his game. He is not a flashy kid and is really humble, which does hurt his star rating a bit. Calling him underrated is fair.

Morgan is FSU's 13th commitment of the 2013 class, which projects to be between 22 and 30 players, depending on a number of variables.
