Former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden would like to be on a BCS committee that selects national championship playoff participants.

"I would be willing to serve on it," Bowden said Tuesday. "I think ex-coaches have a lot of wisdom. I watch the games. And I watch the game films on my iPad."

John Cooper liked the idea, too. Hey, I bet Terry, Jeffy, and Tommy could contribute as well!

This is a TERRIBLE concept. Imagine Bowden and Cooper selecting during a year where tOSU and FSU are on the bubble. The committee ought to be composed of ADs and league personnel, maybe the NCAA prez or some bowl reps, and that's IT. Here's the selection committee for the NCAA b-ball tourney--I can't recall anyone griping about that not having ex-coaches (and their sharply-ground axes) on it.
