Anyone know off the top of their head the last time FSU beat an AQ conference team that ended up with at least 10 wins? I had to do some real research to find the answer.
It was against Virginia Tech in 2008. FSU did beat BYU in 2009 who had 11 wins but they are not in an automatic AQ conference.
Since 2005 FSU's record against eventual 10 win teams is 4 - 9.*
Since 2009, that record is 1 - 6.*
To expand further, since 2009 versus eventual 9-WIN teams, the record improves to 8 -9.*
Clearly the program was going through the worst part of the "lost decade" for much of that and is headed in a better direction now.
However, FSU's record against eventual 10 win teams in 2010 and 2011 is 0 - 4.* This is what makes me cautious. FSU has all the parts, can we become the "sum of the parts" in 2012 is the obvious million dollar question everybody is asking. I hope so.
I'm not from Missouri, but after last year, I am in "show me" mode before I get too excited simply to protect my emotions.
