Questions heading into the season

9 questions for FSU Football heading into the season

1) Will the Cameron Erving experiment work out?

Erving was moved from DT to OT. He is in line to start at the LT spot. It will be very crucial for he to succeed as that is EJ's blindside. If he weren't to work out there, Daniel Glauser will probably be next in line.

2) Can the 'inexperienced' O line mesh early in the season?

I've seen in different places that it could be LT Erving LG Matias C Barron RG Jackson RT Stork. Erving has never played Oline, Matias and Jackson has received 1 start. Barron started some later in the season, and Stork missed some games last year. They seemed to come together some in the bowl game but Erving was on defense then and Stork missed the game due to injury. In the mix for PT will be Glauser, Menelik Watson, Bobby Hart among others.

3) Will Chris Thompson be himself as he was before his injury?

In the Wake Forest game, Thompson broke his back, as we all know. He wasn't himself all year. Some of it may have had to do with the deteriorated Oline. But, can he be himself? Devonte Freeman preformed just about as much as you would expect a True Freshman to do.

4) Who will win the RB job?

I doubt Chris Thompson will win the starting job. Devonte Freeman missed spring with back issues as well. James Wilder had legal troubles. That leaves Mario Pender who will be a True Freshman this coming season. Lonnie Pryor got reps at RB during spring. If I had to guess, it would be Freeman again starting and Thompson, Wilder, and Pender vying for rushes.

5) Who will win the backup QB job?

EJ will start his senior year at FSU. We all know that. But the bigger question is who will be QB 2? It will be between Clint Trickett or Jacob Coker. I think it would be Coker reasons why? More mobility, he is much bigger, etc etc etc. But I can see why Trickett would be QB 2. He already has a year in the system but he pretty much is all passing. He is one that will be in the negatives rushing by season end. Jameis Winston will more than likely redshirt.

6) Can Willie Haulstead, Jacobbi McDaniel, etc return from injury?

Willie Haulstead will return but I'm not so confident about Jacobbi. He didn't redshirt his Freshman year due to DL numbers. He may take a redshirt if he doesn't play. He was hurt in game 6 last year. Medical redshirt? I think a better way to say it is can Willie Haulstead be himself after missing all of the 2011 campaign with concussions.

7) How many and which Juniors will leave early? If any?

The only ones I can think of that might leave are Xavier Rhodes, Bjoern Werner, Christian Jones, and LaMarcus Joyner. All on that monster defense. Rhodes will be a RS Junior and had the oppurtunity to leave last season and might have if not an knee injury sidelined him during the bowl game. Werner will be a Junior this year and will be draft eligible for the first time if he opted after the season. Christian Jones and LaMarcus Joyner didn't redshirt either and will be draft eligible if they chose that route. It seems like they stay for their senior year in football more than anything else.

8) Will it be Brooks or Williams at Safety?

Joyner already has the FS spot locked down. The other Safety spot is down to Terrence Brooks and Karlos Williams. Brooks will be a Junior and Williams a Sophomore. Brooks is one of the best hustlers you will ever see. Williams has much more physical ability. Karlos admitted he didn't take the time to learn the playbook well enough but has grown in maturity since then. Terrnece Brooks will win it. <------;;;-------{ my prediction<------;;;-------{

And finally the question that everyone is asking..........

9) Is this the year FSU lives up to its hype?

I'm thinking it is. This is the year they shut down the cupcakes (Murray St. Savannah St.), win the trap games (USF), escape the Thursday Night game (Va. Tech), win the games they should win (BC, Maryland, Wake, NCST, etc). The toughest games all year will be Clemson and Va. Tech. But, good news Clemson is at home. Bad news, Va. Tech is on the road on a Thursday.

My prediction 11-1 or 12-0 with ACC win and BCS bowl berth.
