If you've been following hoops you've heard a lot about Nole legacy Andrew Wiggins. But there's another elite prospect in the 2014 class who has FSU high on his list. It's Joel Berry, a point guard out of Apopka, FL (Lake Highland). Berry is currently ranked the No. 18 prospect in the class by ESPN.
Berry was last year's Mr. Basketball in the state of Florida, and was the first ever sophomore to win the award. He's been a high volume scorer who has transitioned to the point guard position over the past 12 months.
Berry is 6-1 and a solid 180 pounds, and will just now be starting his junior year in high school.
He currently has FSU, Miami and Ohio State as his top-three, but he has offers from just about everyone, and it's early.
This weekend his AAU team (Each 1 Teach 1) played the Texas Titans, a very talented team which features the 2013 No. 2 player Julius Randle. Here are Berry's highlights in a game where he scored 22 points and went 8-8 from the line (he's an 86% FT shooter).
