While previous reports of EJ Manuel wearing a boot after rolling an ankle in Wednesday's practice may be true, here is video shot by Florida State showing him at Thursday's scrimmage tossing a ball around without the boot. Manuel did not take part in the scrimmage, and is seen throwing in a stationary position (not stepping) in the clip beginning at 0:36 of the video below.
Earlier Thursday, ridiculous message board rumors spread that Manuel was scheduled to have surgery for a far more serious injury. Clearly, that's not the case. Florida State sports info told us that Manuel was being held out of the scrimmage as a precautionary measure. Florida State has been known to be very secretive with injury information, but it looks like the story is correct here. And for good reason, given that Florida State is not playing a game against a BCS opponent for 30 days.
Interestingly, Manuel was not spotted during the media availability portion of the scrimmage, consisting of the first 20 minutes or so. Could it be that Manuel was in the stadium receiving treatment on the ankle and came out later? We'll try to find out from Fisher after the scrimmage.
