EJ Manuel Ankle Injury Not Serious: FSU QB Back In A Few Days

Stay connected for news and updates

EJ Manuel's ankle injury is not serious, Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher indicated Thursday after Florida State's scrimmage. Florida State held Manuel out of the Thursday scrimmage for precautionary reasons.

Fisher said that the swelling was minor, that Manuel could have played if he had to, and that he'll be back in a few days.

In a video shot by Florida State, Manuel was seen tossing the football from a stationary position without a boot on his ankle. Manuel had been previously reported to have been wearing a boot on his ankle after being rolled on by defensive end Tank Carradine during Wednesday's practice.

Interestingly, Manuel was not spotted during the media availability portion of the scrimmage, consisting of the first 20 minutes or so.

Clint Trickett took the quarterback reps in the scrimmage in Manuel's absence. Jacob Coker took the backup quarterback reps with Trickett moving up to take Manuel's snaps.
