Nick O'Leary returns after sitting out last week with a minor injury. The quick TE could prove to be a mismatch for Wake Forest.
Finally, a real opponent. Florida State opens conference play against familiar foe Wake Forest. Wake has beat FSU quite a bit recently, in case you have not heard. Despite Wake's success, FSU is favored...by a lot. Star defensive lineman Nikita Whitlock will be out for Wake. Still, Wake will present Florida State's newly assembled offensive line a real test. How will they hold up? For more keys to the game and what to watch for go here. Fans should get to the game early for military appreciation day and an A-10 Warthog flyover (seriously, this will be awesome).
So much football, so little time. Three weeks in, the young football season is starting to show signs of age. Not in a bad way, of course. No, this age is like a fine rum spending the requisite time in some type of aging apparatus. Let's go with a barrel. Many teams are done with their 'preseason.' No more chowing down cupcakes. No more playing walk-ons in the 3rd quarter.
Sure, there are still snoozers (LSU/Idaho, FAU/Georgia, Clemson/Furman, Virginia Tech/Pitt, etc.) but there is plenty of football on tap with intriguing story lines. Arkansas vs Alabama was supposed to be an early marquee SEC match-up. Unfortunately, #8 ranked Arkansas notched an L against UL-Monroe, lost their QB to injury, and dropped from the polls entirely. Story here is not whether Alabama will win but if they will cover the spread. Stanford struggled in their first game against San Jose State before blowing out Duke. Without Andrew Luck, do they have enough to contend with #2 USC? Tennessee has not beat Florida since 2004. That's a seven year win streak. That is painful, especially for Volunteer fans. Tennessee QB Tyler Bray looked excellent against N.C. State. However, one could assume Florida should have a better defense. Does Bray have enough to snap the streak? Probably worth keeping an eye on.
Miami Picture/Screen Capture Crowd Contest
Miami got blasted by Kansas State last week. Attendance will suffer (more than usual). As in the past, Miami is likely to announce a crowd that is, shall we say, slightly inflated (as in, I'm pretty sure you counted 15,000-20,000 invisible people Mr. SID person). How many fans will be at Miami's first home game against Bethune-Cookman? We want picture evidence. Take screen captures, pictures, or whatever method is available to you, and share them with us in the thread. One rule: be sure that it is officially game time. Pictures taken 10-15 minutes before kick-off aren't quite fair. Make sure the game time and score are visible in the picture.
