We're half-way through the regular season, and at this point I don't think there's any reason left to doubt that this offense is for real. I think it's now fair to start looking at the records that this offense is well on the way to hitting -- one of which might come next week, as Jameis Winston has tied the record for consecutive 300-yard games in FSU history this week and will own it outright with a strong NC State game.
With the victory over Clemson, FSU should play in the ACC Championship Game, giving us 14 games to rack up stats in. With a 14 game season, the ridiculous 1000 year drought by offensive players is on pace to be broken repeatedly this year: Freeman, Greene, and Shaw are all on pace to break the 1000 yard mark, the later two by a large margin.
Below are some of the estimated numbers for key offensive players based on a 14 game season, given per-game numbers through the first four games.
Jameis Winston is on pace for:
4398 yards (Record: 4167) (This would put him 8th in CAREER yards)
47 TDs (Record: 33) (This would put him 5th in CAREER TDs)
Other single-season records he could break:
71.3% (Record: 69.5%)
210.4 Rating (Record: 163.09)
6 200+ yard games (Record: 11)
4 300+ yard games (Record: 7)
3 Consecutive 300-yard games (Record: 3)
1.9% Interception % (Record: 1.5%)
Notes: His 444 yards against Clemson ranks 8th all-time. He wouldn't break it this season, but the record for consecutive games with a TD pass is 16, which he could break early next season. Jameis will also likely pass most of Christian Ponder's senior season stats (yards, TDs, etc.) in the NC State game.
Devonta Freeman is on pace for:
1094 yards (Record: 1242)
Notes: Freeman would need to average about 66 yards in each remaining game to finally give FSU another 1000 yard rusher.
Karlos Williams Sr. is on pace for:
16 TDs (Would tie for 2nd in a season and 9th in a career.)
Rashad Greene is on pace for::
1290 yards (Record: 1496, would rank 3rd)
72 receptions (Record: 86, would rank 3rd)
16 TDs (Record: 15)
7 100+ yard receiving games (Record: 8)
Notes: He wouldn't break it this season, but Greene currently has 21 consecutive games with a reception (Record: 38). Greene would need to average 56 yards in every remaining game to pass the 1000 yard mark.
Kenny Shaw is on pace for:
1237 yards (Record: 1496, would rank 4th)
Notes: Shaw would need to average 59 yards in every remaining game to pass the 1000 yard mark.
Nick O'Leary is on pace for:
Notes: I've seen some of the FSU Tight End records, but I can't find them now. I'm fairly sure he's on pace to break them, though.
Any other records I haven't listed that could realistically be broken this season?
