I actually thought UMD's defense played good for a quarter and a half. Actually I disappointed, but not upset with the Terps at halftime down 21-0. The second half is a different story, the defense got beat down, not necessarily physically, but mentally as they stopped executing. I thought UMD played pretty good defense for FSU's for couple TD's. I felt FSU really earned TD's one and two by making good plays. I thought the Terp defense played mediocre defense for FSU's next three or so TD's and then after it was 35-0. After that, I thought the Terps were missed their assignments and just playing bad defense.
Diggs was a no show. Long was okay. Losing CJ Brown hurt, but its not like he did much in his quarter and a half. Caleb Rowe is probably about equal to CJ as a pocket passer, but doesn't run the offense as well and lacks CJ's wheels. Our O-Line got exposed a good bit.
It was a humbling game. Terps eventually just got worn down and didn't play that well.
In terms of effort, I thought the Terp came out played hard and executed fairly well. FSU was just playing well. The worse games are when you team just come out flat and I didn't feel the Terp came out flat. At some point the Terps got deflated and it snowballed, but I am not too worried about the Terps. This team can still go 9-3. Getting back Jeremiah Johnson at corner will help. AJ Hendy our nickle back played like crap today. He got beat once down the sideline, but I don't care about that he just didn't have the speed to go with the FSU receiver, what pisses me off about his performance was the boneheaded plays, two catch interferences on punts, and twice he blew his assignment on defense. One of your guys hit a crossing route for 20 yards because he wasn't covered. That was Hendy. Jeremiah Johnson is not a great athlete, so he would have had the same athletic issues, but he is a smarter player.
