I will say this, it would be a mistake to think Boston College is going to be a cake walk. They throw a powering running game at you. Williams the big back they have just rushed for 263 yards in the last game and is the leading rusher in the ACC with 768 yards. He is getting close to a thousand with less than half the season gone. At this pace if kept up, he would rush for close to 2000 yards. Boston just mauled Army scoring 48 points.
Power running is the one thing FSU has some trouble with as our linebackers are not big and sometimes seem to be out of position at times anyway. FSU is built to stop the spread. The highly touted Diggs of Maryland had 2 catches for 24 yards.
In fact the FSU players said they were shocked at the way Boston came out after them running ball down their throats. Some of that of course was FSU linebackers and DBs being out of position staying disciplined and in their lanes. FSU had to dig out of a hole, I was surprised myself.
If Clemson shows up just going through the motions thinking cakewalk they will be surprised. That is going to be an interesting game next weekend and I am certainly going to watch it. The Clemson offense can take days off, as many noticed that Wake just scored more points vs NCSU than Clemson did.
We all know Clemson has a great offense but it had best come out clicking at the starting bell and not sputter like FSU did or they will find themselves digging out. I think the power game of BC just might serve some smelling salts to Clemson early on.
If Clemson gets West Virginia-ed, this one will be the game of the year! Clemson fans will never hear the end of it.
FSU is #7 in total defense but #34 in rushing defense. FSU is pretty close to Oregon in stopping the run. On the other hand Clemson doesn’t show up in the top 50 defensive statistics in total defense or rushing defense. Word to the wise, keep the chains moving at all costs vs Boston College. If Boston College begins eating the clock and Clemson has some misfires on offense, the game could get interesting.
