I started rooting for the Seminoles shortly after arriving in Florida in 1987. My Grandpa lived in Miami and was a Hurricane fan. My Dad had moved us to Altamonte Springs though, so there was an equal mix of Seminole, Gator, and Cane fans. I sided with my Dad, electing to root for Bowden's class and principals over Jimmy Johnson's flash and no mercy approach.
I went through High School in the early 90's, right in the middle of Wide Right I and II, and a Hurricane dominance that seemed to just edge my Noles every year. I was fortunate to catch Charlie Ward's run to the National Title my last year in Florida, before leaving for the USAF. So the Miami-Florida St. rivalry has played a significant role in my CFB fandom.
This video is not my best work as I am getting ready for another deployment and time has been at a premium. It is, however, informative imo...covering the intensity of the rivalry over the past 3+ decades or so. It's not a terrible video, it's just not Hollywood/ESPN level. I hope you all get some enjoyment out of this video, I was honored to try and recap a series with so much impact and history.
Go Noles and God Bless,
