Had to redo my whole Homecoming/Alumni edition for this weeks song after the breaking news last night. Jameis is going to be put through the ringer in the coming days. As a fan, I for one, want him to know that I have his back and will be in his corner throughout this ordeal. Jaboo revealed he is a country music fan, this one is for you Jaboo!
But I believe in love.
I believe in old folks.
I believe in children.
I believe in you.
I believe in love.
I believe in babies.
I believe in Mom and Dad.
And I believe in you.
Don William's singing " I believe in you"
This song was a hit in 1980. The economy was in a shambles and people around the world wondered if America stood for anything at all anymore. 33 years later, the more things change, the more they stay the same. As an old sage and the "official Mom" of TN, I am here to tell you that "mom and apple pie" are still alive in America and I think Jameis is an embodiment of all that is still right in this country. Wholesomeness and success through hard work will always be rocks upon which this nation is built. Just like 30, 60 or 90 years ago, it is human nature to try to tear down those we put on a pedestal.
Joy, naivete and unbridled optimism are all traits which "the business of living" will try its darnedest to stomp out of everyone. Joie de vivre, the joy of living, should be what I think we should all aspire to and is what I most admire about Jaboo. I expect him to be fully exonerated, but I hope this experience doesn't forever alter his wonderful outlook on life. Jameis is obviously a very talented football player. I think he is also a wonderful young man. A young man whom this Mom would be proud to call Son.
