Texas is likely to throw bundles of cash the way of Jimbo Fisher as he proceeds to hop on a private jet to Austin, Texas. I'm telling you that is not, nor will it ever, happen. There are obvious signs that Fisher isn't going anywhere, in my opinion, and it starts with the university and the city.
Candi and Jimbo love Florida State, they are comfortable, they know their kids are happy, and it doesn't make any sense to up and move and risk uncertainty. Secondly, his quarterback. If you think Fisher is going to abandon Jameis Winston in the (likely) last year of his college career, you're insane. This is the best relationship Fisher has ever had with one of his quarterbacks and I don't see him risking that over money. Thirdly, Fisher is going to get a substantial raise after this season, closing the financial gap with schools like Florida, Texas and Southern Cal. Fisher will be making enough next year to put him in or around the top ten college football salaries in America (expect $3-$3.5 million putting him around 7-10). Additionally, there are tell-tale signs that Fisher is in Tallahassee for the long-haul. FSU, Eric Barron, and boosters alike would never have committed $15 million and campus space if they were unsure about Jimbo Fisher and the programs future.
Ultimately, I think it's evident that the staff and Fisher will get a raise from the university as they continue to build the program towards elite status. Between the uncertainty, riskiness and uneasiness it makes zero sense for Fisher to start all over again in Austin. There will be whispers, no doubt, but I'll be the first to say: ignore them, relax, it'll be okay.
