On a team stacked with NFL talent at nearly every position , arguably the best player on FSU's roster could be a slight , soft-spoken field goal kicker from tiny Mascotte , Florida . Roberto Aguayo has been that good . The redshirt freshman has seemlessly replaced all time great Dustin Hopkins and is carving out his on legacy as the Noles next great kicker .
Longtime Nole fans can appreciate good field goal kicking . Aguayo's performance has been a revelation . 8-9 on kicks more than 40 yards . 19-20 overall , Aguayo has also not missed an extra point all season . He has been the most consistent performer on an FSU offense that has averaged 52 points per game . Aguayo's quiet excellence has been overshadowed by the brilliance of the Jameis Winston led attack , but against Auburn , Aguayo could be the difference maker .
If Aguayo had been on Alabama's roster , they would be undefeated and headed to Pasadena . Given a chance to hit a 57 yard game winner , its safe to say Aguayo would have at least had enough leg to get it there , if not make it . At the very least he would have done much better than the putrid 1-5 performance turned in in by Alabama's kickers in a game that was decided by a touchdown .
Field goal kickers matter . FSU has one of the best . In the end that could very well be the difference in who takes home the crystal football.
