Need more ? Rewatch flordia vs. Louisville !! PERSPRCTIVE The legendary Bobby Bowden was head coach at Florida State for 34 years . He turned FSU into a powerhouse and a national brand name . His peak dyansty years resulted in a record 14 consective year top 4 AP poll final ranking . This amazimg streak will likely never be matched . 85 man rosters , parity ,and far more ferquent coaching changes combine to make these streaks even more unlikely . I believe #2 on this consecutive top 4/5 list is Oklahoma with 8 years . Look at it this way . The all-galaxy Alabama/Saban football program , winners of 3 of the past 4 national championships , is on a streak of .... TWO YEARS !! Just think , only 12 more seasons and 'Bama might tie Bowden's record . With all those amazimg teams , Bobby "only" won 2 national championships ( damn you miami ). What did those 2 NC teams have in common ? A Heisman trophy winner was taking snaps form center ! I believe you could piont to the QB position as a major reason the Noles fell short of some fans expectations . How many games would FSU won in '12 if Charley Ward , or RGIII , or Johnny Manziel was our starting QB ? But there is only one Heisman winner out of 124 teams a year . Elite QB's are very hard to come by ! Maybe , just maybe , there is an elite college QB on the Seminole roster today ! SUMMARY Call me pollyanna , but I prefer to look at the half full- portion of the glass. This might be a result of my own Flordia State history . During my first two years on campus ('74,'75) the Noles won FOUR games . TOTAL! COMBINED ! Would you rather be a Nebraska /Texas/ USC/ Auburn / Michagan fan ?? Don't get me wrong . There are plenty of concerns going forward . Who is our QB ? Can we live with thin OL and RB rosters ? Will Jimbo ever learn positive people skills ? Can our 5/6 new coaches do the job ? Will we ever like Jimbo ? Etc. , Etc. . JF has been HC for 3 seasons now . Likely to be here for the foreseeable future . Lets take a look at what has happened in the 3 years since the end of the " Lost Decade " . Here is my half-full list : ACC champs , savor those 12 win seasons , they are hard to come by ! 2-1 vs. florida . 2-1 vs. Clemsom . 3-0 vs. Miami . 3-0 in bowl games . 5 game bowl win streak, 31 bowl appearances , both tops in the nation . 3-1 vs. the mighty SEC . 31 wins , only 5 or 6 teams have more . 2 more conferance championship games than florida Did I mention florida vs. Louisville ?
