Two Florida State track athletes arrested in off-campus gun discharge incident

Tomahawk Nation

We'll try to bring you the most current coverage possible on this situation.

1:15 -- It sounds like one man was showing off and shooting his gun at the apartment complex, and the cops rolled up. The shooter then took off, and another man on the scene refused to consent to a search, resisted arrest, and was found with a Fake ID. All are innocent until proven guilty.

12:00 -- FSU has released a statement on the arrest of two Florida State track athletes.

"We are aware of the arrests and are working to gather all the facts. The students have been suspended from the team effective immediately. Whether they can return as student-athletes will be determined through our discipline policy and any legal proceedings." - Randy Spetman

Officers have arrested a Florida State student with discharging a firearm in the city limits. The shooting did not occur on Florida State campus, he said. -- TDO

11:15 -- I am expecting Florida State to release a statement on the matter relatively soon.

11:09 -- There are apparently reports this morning of a shooting involving Florida State student athletes late last evening.

I called the Tallahassee Police Department and reached Northway's voicemail. I am waiting to hear back from him.

There is no indication of whether the athletes were the perpetrators, the victims, witnesses or otherwise. As of this morning, there is little information.

Out of respect for any potential victims, their families, and the legal process, we're going to play this very much by the book. Please do not speculate about things which you do not know.

If you know something or have heard something, email me at Bud.Elliott@SBNation.com and do not post it in the comment section. I'll work to confirm and cross check it with my sources.

I will post any breaking updates on this page, and will note in the comment section when a new update comes available. Until then, let's pray that nobody has been seriously injured.
