2014 Running Back Situation

With the news of Pender being ineligible for the 2013 season how does this affect our RB situation beyond 2013? I feel as if this Pender situation is not going to get better. He got into some legal trouble before he came to FSU, then had commitment issues last year while going through rehab, then this year does not do his part in the classroom. I believe Bud said something that this could be an issue with Pender every year. I just wonder if the talent that Pender has is really worth the scholarship he is currently taking. He does not appear to be the kind of "Character" person that FSU has been bringing the past few years. I understand that you have to take risk on some players, and it could be a high risk v. high reward kind of thing, but I am starting to think that this may have blown up in FSU's face. Even in his commitment video he did with the local news station two years ago, you kinda got that feeling that the school side of the student athlete was going to be an issue. I said all of that to lead into this.....

The general opinion on here is that Wilder is gone after this season. We will return Freeman, and Ryan Green as the only 2 experienced backs. I was looking at ESPN, they show that 23 of the top 30 backs are already committed somewhere else except FSU. I understand that a verbal commitment means nothing but thought it should be noted. Of the 7 left uncommitted only 4 of them appear to have offers from FSU according to ESPN.

FSU in my opinion needs to get a back that will come in as a true freshman and be ready to take some snaps next season due to only having Ryan Green, and Devonta Freeman. While I think that Green and Freeman will complement each other as a grinder and a speedy guy, we will need a third guy to be ready to take snaps.

I know at one point Yearby was commited to FSU, and then flipped to the Canes. Has that ship sailed? Or if we can show a chance for early playing time as a freshman is it possible we flip him back?

Does Leonard Fournette start looking at FSU as an option now? Or is the greener pastures of LSU look to good to pass up? Hill is in the dog house right now due to his ongoing legal issues. LSU did not take a scholarship RB last recruiting cycle. They have Kenny Hilliard that was a 2011 SEC All-Freshman, and the second leading rusher last year behind Hill. So if Fournette signs with LSU he will be #2 behind a experienced Hilliard. If Fournette elects to come to FSU he will come in as a true freshman behind Senior Freeman and Soph. Green.

When was the last time LSU featured a full time back? I know that Fournette has been labeled as the best running back to come out of high school since Adrian Peterson. FSU has not featured a star running back since Fisher has taken the program and goes with a hot hand. Does this mentality affect a star running back’s decision when looking at FSU? I said all of that to say this--- Does Pender’s academic ineligibility and potential to never see the field at FSU increase our chances of landing a stub Running Back in the 2014 Recruiting Cycle? I am by no means a recruiting guru and may be missing some other running back recruit that could step in. Please if you know of someone or have any information about our running back recruiting please let me know.

Take it easy on me this is the first time I have ever done a Fan Post.
