Florida State football recruiting news: Will Seminoles land Kerryon Johnson?

Get your taxes in! FSU football recruiting needs refresher here.

-Kerryon Johnson, a five-star RB/S out of Madison (Ala.), is committing Tuesday around 3:30. Florida State is one of his finalists, along with Auburn and Alabama. Johnson does have a true affinity for the Seminoles, but Auburn will be stiff competition here as well. We'll see what happens this afternoon. I prefer Johnson at safety, but he's quite good at both. He wants to play running back, and would be a take for FSU as a RB.

-Florida State's recruiting marketing came up with a great concept to impress recruits, as you can see in this photo (click for bigger size). This was posted by CeCe Jefferson, a five-star defensive end prospect from Florida. The writing that makes up his image has things like "3 National Championships," and the names of many FSU legends.

Also interesting was running back Jacques Patrick tweeting at Jefferson. I've said before and will maintain that I'd be shocked of the Orlando 4-star running back doesn't end up at FSU. I'm significantly less confident in Jefferson.

- 4-star WR Auden Tate's parents apparently like FSU quite a bit. When I spoke with Tate a few weeks ago, I did not get the impression that the Tampa product had all that much interest in Florida State. He does have family connections to South Carolina.

Tate is a bigger, possession receiver, and I expect FSU to sooner than later add a player in that mold in 4-star Da'Vante Phillips, of Miami (Fla.) Central.

-Offensive tackle recruit Abdul Bello is in no hurry to decide and plans to take all five of his official visits. FSU will receive one from the Montverde (Fla.) Academy freak. He visited FSU over the weekend for the spring game.

-Maryland QB Kai Locksley is very high on Florida State after his visit for the spring game. The four-star QB is also the son of Maryland OC Mike Locksley, but he has tweeted that FSU and Auburn are on top for him. With FSU looking to take two quarterbacks, he is very high on the board.

-I was asked Monday about tight end recruiting, since FSU is very close to landing Georgia tight end Jalen Wilkerson and is strongly in the mix for FSU legacy Garrett Williams. FSU would absolutely take both. In fact, if JUCO tight end "commit" Josh McNiel can get qualified, it wouldn't shock me to see FSU take all three.

-FSU offered Georgia OL Brandon Sandifer Monday. He's a low four-star type and a serious road grader.

-I'm told FSU likes OL Christion Gainer, of Panama City (Fla.) Bay HS quite a bit. He is a 2016 teammate of Janarius Robinson, who received an offer at FSU's spring game.
