Florida State Men’s basketball guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes is anticipating the upcoming 2016-2017 season, saying this is the best preseason camp the team has had in awhile.
“Guys are really meshing well together, playing at a high level, competing at a high level, and I definitely think we have something special.”
The team finished last season with a second round NIT loss to Valparaiso.
Personally, XRM as he is also known by, said he wants to improve on his percentages from last year, noting his three-point percentage that sat at 28.5% following the 2015-2016 campaign.
The Ontario, Canada native also said the young guys are doing well, with and he is taking over the mentoring role as Rathan-Mayes enters his third season in the program.
“Definitely, I think thats the biggest step I’ve taken this year, this offseason. Mentoring some of the younger guys, and just being a leader to our team.”
