Great news came across the wire for Florida State fans on Friday morning, as James Cook, younger brother of star running back Dalvin Cook, verbally committed to the Seminoles (according to Josh Newberg of 247Sports). Cook is a running back, like his brother, and is a 2019 prospect, so FSU fans will have to wait a few years before seeing the next link in the Cook family step onto the field in Tallahassee.
Though it's still too early in the process for Cook (Miami, Fl.) to be ranked by the major recruiting services, his offer sheet speaks volumes to his talent. According to 247Sports, he already has offers to play at Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisville, LSU, Miami, Ohio State, Tennessee, UCF and West Virginia.
Although he is the younger brother of superstar RB Dalvin Cook, he has quickly made a name for himself across the recruiting landscape as an elite prospect in his own right. Cook is one of the top running backs in the nation for the class of 2019. A glider with deceptive speed and great balance, he carried Miami Central to a State Championship in 2015 with a dominant performance.
Cook was recently named MVP of the RB group at the Miami Nike Training Camp, as a high school freshman. Now it will be up to Jimbo Fisher and staff to keep his commitment for the next three years as programs across the country flock to Miami to recruit him.
Cook is the second commitment for the Florida State Seminoles in the 2019 class, joining defensive end Mike Morris (Cardinal Newman, Fl.). Congratulations, James!
